What is the single most important thing you've forgotten to pack?

I left all chilling food stilling in the cooler in the kitchen, now that was a shock when we got to the campground. Thank heavens for camp stores, and towns close by. And for a sister who would go over and put the food in the fridge. NO steak that trip

My Nexus pass for crossing the border to Canada and then after I returned to the border it flipped out of my hand and fell down between the seats and I'm at the guard station. Party of 3 others at this point say I'm not with them so I'm pulled over to the side and had to Wait in the inspection line till it was my turn because your not allowed to exit your vehicle in customs line and I had to in order retrieve my pass. I added 2 hours to my 1 hour first camping spot !!!

Nearly everything at one time or another, that is until I developed an extensive checklist.

Probably 2 most important things; butter and beer (or other alcohol). Luckily it hasn't been a big deal in the past, just hop in the truck and hit the local grocery store. But I have a MH now. Last time out, we didn't hook up the toad. Didn't feel like breaking camp to drive the MH to town just for some butter, so we did without. I told DW that as a Boy Scout, I rarely had butter or milk, and it's not entirely necessary. She wasn't buying, so we didn't get our Mac & Cheese. And thankfully I have a great non-stick pan, so I was able to cook our eggs for breakfast...

Probably would've broken camp if it had been beer AND butter...

Grilling tools is one I seem to mess up. Finnally learned my lesson and bought a second set just for camping that stays in the trailer.

Mid trip packing.... Folded up our outside mat, and being it was wet, placed in the bed of the truck behind the hitch. I'm pretty sure it was gone in the first few miles. It's heavy and wet, so surely it won't get sucked out. Back to Wally world for another.

At various times I've forgotten my meds, my retainer/nightguard, the CPAP, hot dogs, etc. First trip out this season though I managed to make it all the way down to Kanab, UT before I realized the only pair of pants I had were the ones I was wearing (in my defense though, work was really hounding me after hours the night before we left so I was quite distracted...). Needless to say they have an AWESOME Levi's shop in downtown Kanab...(Thanks Dukes Clothing!!!).

I traveled virtually every week via air on business before I retired (over a million flight miles). My first trip away from my home base site after I moved in to my 5th wheel (full time) was interesting. It was my first hookup after the initial move from the dealer a few weeks before so I was doing it slowly and carefully not wanting to forget something critical. After all was ready there was something nagging me. What have I forgotten? I double and triple checked everything and couldn't find a thing I missed. I even sat on the ground and just looked at the rig still trying to figure out what I had missed. Finally the Light Came On!

I had forgotten to pack. This was the first time in over 30 years I was going somewhere and I had not packed. After a good laugh at myself I slipped behind the wheel and drove off for a great first weekend. Now 8 years later I don't think about packing anymore.

My X bar to take off camper tires, why did I remember that I forgot it. Yep, had a flat on my popup. Luckily a passerby loaned me one.
