3/4 of my time was on 'the Rock' AKA Okinawa between Camp Foster/Butler with the gear, and MCAS Futenma at the fuel farms

Field radio school at San Diego
Assigned to 3rd MarDiv (Headquarters Bn, Comm Company) on Okinawa
- TDY to ANGF School, Subic Bay, PI
- TDY to Delta Battery, 2/12 and attached to Bn. 1/9 for six months
-Rotated back to Conus in December '72
Assigned to MCAS Beaufort, SC for the remainder of my time
Discharged in April 1976 at Sgt. E5.

USMC ‘76-‘83 SGT, field band 5543, euphonium/ baritone horn, then minor conductor, bus driver, 8563 Water Survival Instructor. Civilian SCUBA instructor.

- Parris Island 3 mo, went back in 2017 for neice’s graduation, scared to death nervous. Go figure.
- Navy School of Music, Norfolk, Va 6 mo
- Iwakuni Japan 18 mo
- Okinawa 6 mo
- Camp Pendleton, Ca 9 mo
- Okinawa again, 3 yrs. Loved it there.

Did broken reserve time for two years as 0311 rifle squad leader and year as tank battalion embarkation chief.

Family and full time job ended the adventure.

Drafted into Royal Netherlands Navy as a Gunners Mate in August 1980.
After my mandatory 18 months I enlisted as a yeoman. Last assignment was at the Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC. (89-92).
Left in 92 as an E6, stayed in the US and became a citizen in 2011!
