Pickleball

Has anyone here ever played pickleball? I'm planning to try it on Tuesday at the new courts my YMCA built. I've heard a lot about it but never had the chance to try it before.

Thanks Grumpy. I have never enjoyed tennis. Hopefully, this will be a little more my speed.

DW and I played a few times at our AZ destination park. IMHO, Easier than tennis, a bit slower maybe. Fun to do. A few rounds and this ol' guy can feel it!

This Y has had an indoor program for many years. I was never able to play in the morning when they have the indoor program due to my work schedule.

They finished the construction on 3 outdoor courts. In fact, the official grand opening is this coming Thursday. At least until the snow starts flying, this will give me the opportunity to stop after work.

I just learned it’s the fastest growing sport in the US. Around here there’s a city park that converted its old tennis courts to new pickle ball courts. My gym has games on certain days as well.

I travel for work and a guy I travel with always finds pickle games around the country if he has the time. He’s not had success in getting me to come along, but I may have to check it out at some point. Sounds fun.

Looks like it generated some interest in the sport. If I was only younger...

I'm guessing that there were people there ranging in age from mid teens up through their 80's. It was really interesting to see the wide age range.

It's a very popular sport and before retirement, we converted many tennis courts in Dallas into pickleball courts due to its growing popularity. They are always full. There was an article in this morning's Dallas Morning News about a new website that has launched. www.pickleball.com

I just started last week and it is fantastic. Not nearly as much running as tennis. It is meant to be very friendly and social. I had a great time with many friends.
We have quite a few courts in Utah, both indoor and outdoor.
Yes, I am sore but I played for three hours last night.

We have over 100 pickleball courts in our 55+ community in Florida. We took the summer off, but will start up again now that the weather is getting cooler.

A lot of fun, unless your last name is Nadal

Just remember to stay out of the kitchen!

I can't necessarily say that I was sore after I played the first time. I just definitely used muscles that I haven't in a while.
