raining on my vacation and we haven't left

We are packing for a week long trip that includes some time swimming and checking out some rock formations in SE Missouri. I checked the state's CG advisory site today and the river we wanted to swim in was closed toady until further notice due to high water.

Rain is predicted in the area over the weekend but we have alternate plans so hopefully it won't drag our vacation down too much. I guess I should be thankful we are not getting the flooding some of Texas is getting.

Seems like it has rained every weekend this season around here. But I will say the trips my kids have fond memories are not the perfect weather, no problem trips.

It seems like the rain has a weekend schedule for sure. And it's not only the camping trips that suffer. We have a hard time getting outside chores done around the house too. Hanging around with an 8MO, we have enough trouble making time for chores and stuff, the weekends are usually our catch up time.

We were out last weekend, and our record continues; rain on nearly every camping trip ever (since DW and I started dating back in college anyway). Luckily most of the rain was at night, so it didn't hamper the activities too much. But it did rain quite a bit while I was trying to break camp. I don't worry about it though, I'm certainly not sweet enough to melt! LOL!

I did almost have an oops moment though. I put the camp chairs in the pass thru storage damp, and would've taken the TT back to storage with them in there (YUCK!). I just happened to open the compartment to assess the materials I'll need for a lighting mod and smelled the beginnings of mildew! Grabbed all the chairs and they're airing out in the garage as we speak (since it's raining I can't leave them out in the sun!)

Good luck to you guys! I know you'll have a good time anyway!

During both 2013 and 2014 it rained the day we left on every trip. The day of the maiden voyage with our X20E it was a massive downpour almost the entire ride. So far this year we haven't had it that bad.

Many years ago when we were still tenting some friends used to tease that find out when we go camping and not go themselves to avoid the rain.

We get that all the time. People have asked us to come over and camp in their back yard!

Last weekend we went with some friends, and we had to give them our standard disclaimer; "It always rains on us, so make provisions for it".

Well, I'm not going with you, so you should be good!!

I leave a set of "Frog Togs" in the camper permanently.

Seems like it's rained every time we've been out too...

However, I kind of like it. Makes me feel like the money spent on the upgrade from a tent to the HTT was well worth it.

And that's the beauty of it! Rain on the trip really doesn't bother us too much, just puts a damper on outdoor activities and campfires. The part I hate is driving in the rain, especially if the trip is more than a couple of hours.

DW declared Sunday morning, she was driving us home! Then she discovered it was going to rain the whole way and promptly retracted her declaration! LOL!

I don't mind the rain so much, but the wind will tighten my grip significantly.
