Oh, yes. We left home on Saturday and it poured down rain traveling from Bedford, PA, to Blue Knob SP. Stayed two nights there. Spent four nights at Hidden Springs Campground located near Rocky Gap SP in MD (they have FHU, Rocky Gap doesn't). Biked on a portion of the Great Allegheny Passage in Cumberland, MD. Then spent the last two nights camped right next to the Youghiegheny River at River's Edge Camping & Cabins near Connellsville, PA and biked on another section of the Great Allegheny Passage with some camping friends that met and camped with us there. Across the river from the campground are the CSX mainline tracks that run from Pittsburgh, PA to Cumberland, MD. Every night we sat at the campfire and watched for Amtrak's Capitol Limited to pass by on its daily westward trek from Washington, DC to Chicago, IL. Our poor cat leaped up and hid in the overhead cabinets above our bed every time a train went by.

We had a great time camping near Traverse City, Michigan.

It is a beautiful area and I highly recommend you visit there.

Don't forget to do THE DUNE CLIMB at Sleeping Bear National Park! Highly recommended.

Planning my bucket list, thought about a trip up the Alaska Highway, thinking a trip to the Canadian Maritimes is more doable.

Well, last night on this trip. It may be our last of the season. Sad.

One week from tonight, we will be starting a 4 night stay at Pinery Provincial Park, on the shores of Lake Huron. This will likely be our last camping for this season.......sigh

I'm waiting for the day when the wife can retire, and we can do that snowbird thing, at least part time.

I just told DW we'd better empty the fridge and winterize this weekend. It's already in the 30s the last week and I have to leave town on business next week. Don't want to worry about things freezing up. Darn, I thought we had one more trip this season. But hope we can get out onto the road and head south for a month or so this winter. Never snowbirded before.

I was on my boat working in the Bay when I heard about it on the FM radio. The DJ explained what was happening as best he could, but it was surreal hearing it as it happened and not knowing just how bad things were. When we got back to the crabhouse we turned on the tv there, a fuzzy B&W picture on a uhf channel via rabbit ears and saw the replays ...............

I remember the day, but I really remember the next couple of days. I had been called in to work at the fire dept....a couple of my guys were sent to Pentagon and were sending me back reports which were just horrific. I live in a town with one of the busiest airports in the country so you always hear and see planes - so it was just oddly silent outside without them. I was on a call and looked up and saw a con trail going way up in the sky and my brother and I grabbed his camera with a 300mm zoom and started started taking shots even though we could not tell what it was. When we got it on the computer and zoomed in, we could see it was a stealth bomber patrolling over the county. It was at that moment I think I fully understand what had happened.

Two acquaintances of mine perished in the collapse of the twin towers that day.

I was in Atlanta on 33rd floor of Georgia-Pacific tower. When the 2nd plane hit, half the floor started walking down the stairs. Within 15 minutes, downtown Atlanta was gridlocked with people trying to get out of dodge and to their home. It was errie not seeing planes lining up to land at Hartsfield airport, the busiest in the world.

I stayed put and worked all day.
