RV demand may be cooling off a bit.

RV demand may be cooling off a bit. Two articles on the subject.

The slowdown could be based on a mix of higher gas prices, tariffs and concerns about the mid-term elections that might stifle continued growth.

Noticed how one of the items mentioned in the article that influenced there loss was increase in warranty cost. Wonder if that will get their attention enough to work on improving quality control? Another factor in the slow down maybe the increase in interest rates on loans.

That's a very valid point. I read an article somewhere recently where the higher interest rates were becoming a concern in the housing market also. I'll put up a link if I can find it again.

When interest rates on loans go up, interest in taking out a loan goes down.

Many factors go into it I'm sure. I wonder if the market is also over saturated at this point somewhat like the auto market and is leveling off? Only so many RV folks out there and many may already have one, plus many used ones available as well.

It's across the board. From RV BUSINESS:

I hope you weren't expecting it to appreciate LOL (I know you're kidding)

They're a hole in the ground you pour money into, a boat is a hole in the water.

We bought ours used at 1 yr old from the original purchaser and paid 75% of the price they had paid. Now at 5 yrs old it's likely worth less than 1/2 the original purchase price.

Anyone who has had the misfortune to camp at a crowed, run-down commercial campground (or tried to get a reservation in one) would certainly want to give up the RV life. Even our much loved state parks have become difficult to navigate reservations into. There is simply too much RV supply for campground availability to handle. So, the decline in RV sales has a potential good upside for the rest of us.

I just got an email from GoodSam finance. Here's a link to the offer.

Good Sam RV Loans

Finance rates starting at 4.99% ranging up to 7.79% depending on amount and term. Looks like the era of cheap financing is gone for many. I'm sure that this has to be part of the slowdown also.

As has been said, there are surely many factors involved.
To be honest, it won't hurt my feelings to see the market slow a bit. As Crossingover eluded to; commercial resorts getting run down and the ability to reserve sights gets ridiculous.
Not that it hinders us much because we primarily dry camp or boondock, but it seems there is also an increasing trend of more and more people who are unwilling to "get off the grid" so the 'resort' type full hookup campgrounds (many look like fancy parking lots with scatterings of grass throughout) are constantly full and often times booked out for a year or more. When you can't get a space or the place is run down and crowded, it can take the fun out things.
I am sure the slow down in the RV industry is combination of many things.

Yes, but they still gouge you at 0%. We just bought a truck at 0% financing, but salesman said if we paid cash he would take off $2750

My son worked at the dealership at the time so we got a good deal on it and they overpaid for my trade ( and it cost them almost 5000$ to certify it). I always make the deal at cash and then see what I get for financing. In this case it was an extra 1000$ for signing up to a GM credit card (which I cancelled within a month).

How are they gouging you ? You can choose to get your own financing and take the bigger discount, or, you can take their financing without the discount? It's totally your choice. You can also choose to pay cash, and have zero financing PLUS get the discount. That's what I choose.

This 80% of the reason we sold our TT, downgraded truck from 2500 duramax to a 1500 gasser and are taking a significant step back in the RV camping lifestyle.

The other 20% is I found "outdoorsy", basically a AirB&B for RVs, so we can still get out a couple times a year with our friends.

Just booked our first rental over new years, 4 nights. We rented a 2018 26' Class C for $150/night. The owner lives 3 miles from us, nice guy, and just rents it to make the payments so he essentially has a free RV and I still get to camp with our friends and have no hassle of maintenance, depreciation, storage, insurance, etc.
