Scenes from the storage yard

The storage yard where we keep the trailer during the off-season is locked and access is by appointment only. Which suits me fine, since I really have no reason to do anything to the trailer until the spring, when I prep it for the summer camping season. But today I had the chance to drive by the yard and take a look from the road. Ours is second from the right. Kind of depressing...

Yes keep thinking Spring!! Our motorhome is in an indoor storage building. I do drive by the building quite frequently and wish I could at least get a look at it. Oh well, hopefully this will be a mild and fast winter!

I pay $600 for indoor storage from October 15 thru April 15 ( or whenever the snow melts!) Owner is flexible on when we can get it out.

Yes we got very lucky. A friend of mine knows the owner and called him when I mentioned we were looking for indoor storage. He just so happened to have an opening because of a recent cancel. And it is only 4 miles from our house!

Well stay in good graces. You have quite the deal going on. Indoor winter storage is almost invaluable. 4 miles from the house you could almost do all year.

Wow... For the spot in my photo above, I'm paying $1.50 per foot plus 1 foot. The yard adds on an extra foot as a safety buffer. Since the trailer is 27' long from coupler to bumper, I'm paying for 28'. Storage is from Nov 1 to April 30, but because I'm getting seasonal storage, they give me October for free. Total cost for 7 months of storage comes out to $264 CDN. Plus it's only 10 minutes from home.

The lot is packed gravel and fenced, and access is by appointment only. I usually email the owner a week before I need access, and they're really good about it. RV dealers around here charge $50 to $60 per month, so when I consider that I'm paying what comes out to $37 for the same thing, why look elsewhere?

As North mentioned... I am in the $60 per month club for outdoor storage. But that has me parked on packed gravel, a dedicated parking spot marked with steel runners, full time video surveillance and card access 24/7.

The price is premium, but so are the amenities. The packed gravel is much better then the farmers field I used to be in since it helps with both moisture issues and rodents. I do have to do some of my own maintenance there though. The weeds are starting to encroach. I want four feet of open space between my rig and any foliage so I go up with weed spray and a whippersnipper a couple of times a year.

You guys have some pretty reasonable storage costs. I'm at $4.50 a foot. Gated, covered, and on concrete with on site dump station. Not enclosed. Just covered. Kind of pricey, but I suppose cheaper than moving to a new house on larger property etc.

Looking forward to Spring myself! Everyone who parks here gets a key to the gate with in and out privileges! Owner lives on the property so not to worried about outside thieves!

It's not the outside thieves that will get your battery or tanks.
