Sending a video file

I finally got my video camera held just right so you can see the dripping from my toilet supply line (that the dealer cannot find:lightning and want to email it to him and Jayco... (this has been going on now for over a year) but the 35 second file is too large to email... anyone know anything about this stuff so I can send the file?
Thanks

Seann,

I'm by no means a PC geek, but there are probably numerous ways to do it but one way that I do know is with a "File Compression" software product like WinZip, which is a 3rd party software download. WinZip does have a "free" trial version, but I don't know the extent of it's video compression features.

I have an active thread on a similar subject and member "3'senough" seems to have some knowledge on the subject, may want to give him him a PM. As a matter of fact you replied to my 'dilemma' .

Bob

ps: U-Tube has a lot of great "How To" videos, check them out as well.

Sign up for YouTube and then upload the file there. You can then just email the link out and they can watch the file. All free and they store it for you!

Wonder if you can post it on here and have them come look at it if you send them a link. Liked the utube idea too.

Seann, I thin Utube is your best bet also. That way we could all watch it drip.

Seann,

The video format used at YouTube & Facebook is "FLV video". If you have Windows Movie Maker on your PC or Laptop, it has a feature for sending videos in an e-mail, and to the web.

Also, if you do have a formatting issue, the freeware that resolved my issue also includes a video feature that address converting/downloading videos to YouTube. But I believe that the uploading process with YouTube does some degree of converting.

Freeware: http://download.cnet.com/Any-Video-C...ml?tag=mncol;1

YouTube Compatible File Formats:

•WebM files – Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codecs
•.MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files – Typically supporting h264, mpeg4 video codecs, and AAC audio codec.
•.AVI - Many cameras output this format – typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM
•.MPEGPS – Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio
•.WMV – Windows Movie Maker, by default saves projects as .MSWMM files. .MSWMM files are project files (which mean the file only contains the layout of your video and does not contain the final video itself). YouTube does not accept .MSWMM files. To upload your Windows Movie Maker video to YouTube, select the “Save to My Computer” option to save the file to an accepted format. You can then upload the generated file to YouTube.
•.FLV – Adobe-FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio

Bob

ps: Some camcorders have a "one-touch" feature for uploading to YouTube.

Can you look up the file size and see how large it is? Should not be taking that long unless you have a really really slow internet connection.

Terry,

Adding to your comment, I found this statement that I believe is from the YouTube web site:

"Your video is limited to 10 minutes and 1024 MB. Uploads usually take 1-5 minutes per MB on a high-speed connection, and converting your video takes a few minutes."

Bob

On Edit: A lot of internet postings have been ranting about the slow upload time at YouTube.
