Shortest camping trip ever!!
Well....we went camping and left on Friday and arrived at 7:30 pm. I was all nicely set up, including a canopy over our site's picnic table. Stockpiled all the wood I was going to burn over the weekend, built a great campfire, cook some hotdogs over it, pulled out the campchairs, zero gravity lounger and portable hammock. We waited until the last piece of wood that we put on the fire burned out and turned in for bed........we get a knock on our camper door at 12:05 am Sat morning from the park ranger....congrats us for being new grand parents.....we stood there stunned....it turns out that my son had called the Ridge Meadows RCMP police who then drove to the Provincail Park gates to inform the park operators to find us which they did and said that we could leave if we wanted to. Since the gates were locked from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, we opted to stay the night and leave in the morning, wife woke me up at 5:00 am, we packed up and left. We finally reached the park gates and was able to get cell coverage and called our son. He informed us that it was a false alarm and they were sent home. At 4:00 am they rushed back to the hospital. My son said that he would give us up to date text messages as the pregancy progressed. We headed for home to drop of my truck and trailer and take my wife's car to the hospital. My son texted again and said the water broke and we are half way home....I pushed it a little harder to get home and 10 minutes later he infromed us that the baby could arrive anytime. We got home and headed for the hospital. We got to the labour and delivery and did not have to wait long.......we are the proud grandparents to a very beautiful grandaughter born at 9:36 am this morning weighting in at 7 lbs 2 ozs. It was so worth losing the weekend camping trip for the arrival

Congratulations.....in a few years when you take her camping, you can tell her the story.
There is absolutely nothing more fun for us than taking the grandkids out for a weekend of smores, campfires, hikes, hot dogs on the grill, etc. etc. etc.

You might want to rethink that LoL. When our granddaughter started to talk, she could not say grandpa and it came outas " Bucka". To this day ( she is now 12) she calls him Bucka and so do her younger siblings. We think is great that he gets this special name. So you are right, let her call you whatever she wants!
