So I Got To Check Out An Airstream...

Had a very nice couple camping next to us this weekend in a 27 foot Flying Cloud. They offered us a tour and all I can say is....Wow!!! Unbelievable build quailty and super chic design. Everything is top notch, from the appliances to the coutertops and even down to the propane tank cover. Honestly, it was really cool, but I would not look for myself to be defecting from Jayco just yet. I just cant get past the fact that for the price of that ONE Airstream, I could get the best 27 foot Jayco made AND get a kick-butt tow vehicle to boot. My wife summed it up best. She said that our Jayco is like the Holiday Inn and that Airstream is like the Ritz Carlton. Holiday inn's work just fine by me.....

My folks have an Airstream. It is an 80s model and I think it is about 16 feet...small but nice for the two of them.

Amazing how loyal the Airstream folks are....they have been up to the factory twice to have repairs and mods done. There is a big camp up there on site and they come from all around to have work done. They have a dedicated club, I think called the "Wally Bynum" club, and those numbers on the front are their member number.

When I started looked at a trailer, I found 70s model 28 foot quad bunk - it was huge. It had been parked in a field and would have required major interior overhaul - but amazing how well the structure held up.

My favorite Airstream was the one down in Huntsville at the Space and Rocket Center - it held the astronauts in quarantine when they got back from the moon...it is pretty cool . It was discovered just a few years ago sitting out at a govt facility housing research students or something like that....

I have been in some at different RV shows. They even have models with slides. Top notch and worth the $$$$ but I still like my Jayo and the price difference

Grab a coffee and check out this guy's "body-off" Airstream rebuild: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fu...pa/pging/1.cfm

We looked at Airstream before buying our Jayco. The one we liked as well as the Jayco we bought would have been 3 times as much, in round numbers.
