So THAT'S what that switch is for!!!

I own 2 pups, a Jayco and Coleman. I've owned the Coleman for 4 years.

From the day I got it, I noticed an on-off switch by the inside front wing that I had no clue what it was for, and I don't recall seeing it in the manual. My kids and I flipped it off and on over the years, but never heard or saw anything happen..

Today, I'm doing a repair on the step of that trailer, and I needed to lay on the ground at one point.... As I looked up, I noticed a black wire running up near the step that I never noticed before. I said what the heck does that wire go to??!! About a second later, I noticed an orange round lens facing over the step, that is completely hidden from side view!! I said NO WAY!!!!! I knew immediately at that point what turned that light on. I immediately scrambled to get a bulb for it, and waddayaknow... It works!

Only took 4 yrs LOL

That reminds me of the time I bought my grandfather's 1981 Ford Granada. (Don't laugh, its paid for!)

As I was checking it out, I noticed a bright orange button in the glove box, then I said to him "Cool, a trunk release."

You should've seen the look on his face when I pressed that button and the trunk lid popped open. He had no idea. He told me that in 1982 he put his golf clubs into his trunk with his car key inside the bag and closed the trunk. He had to pay a locksmith $150.00 to open the trunk ($425.00 today).

Didn't take me quite as long as 4 years, but I was baffled about a switch in the control panel just inside the door, you know, where the awning, slide-out, main lights, tank levels... is located. When I was outside on the opposite side of the trailer I noticed an amber light way up high. Seen it before, of course, but didn't give it much thought. Went inside to find the switch. Looked around the area I thought it would be, logically, but couldn't find one. Then the light bulb moment; the switch in the panel. Sure enough that was the one. Now it's labeled as such for the next owner.
