Stink Bugs and Bees

... we got em at Hueston Woods SP (... in OH, South of I-70, way west). Since the weather cooled some, we are now dealing with dozens of stink bugs - instead of hundreds. But with the lower temperatures, the bees are out for their last fling.

Yesterday I was vacuuming stink bugs and a neighbor came by and said his wife was baking brownies and the bees were swarmed at his vent.

I now consider a shop vac an essential camping item. For you folks who think the stink bug comments are overstated - wait until they hit your area.

Example of frustrating experiences: A tankless water doesn't do anything until there is a demand. Stink bugs crawl into it and you don't know they are there. While it's in use, the exhaust fan blows them into the protective screen - FROM THE BACK. If you don't clear them out they would plug your exhaust.

When the slides come in they are lined up by the dozens on the inside were they crawled past the seals. ... into the vac they go.

I hear you my friend.
The fact that they get in every nook and cranny and past some seals is a real problem.
They can ruin a good outing in a hurry.

Best regards,
Doug

We have been fighting bees this week. They are so thick on the hummingbird feeder that the birds won't come in. We made a couple of plastic bottle traps and they are working well. Hopefully we can get the birds back tomorrow.
