Storage fees

I was wondering what storage fees would cost? What do you pay, indoor, outdoor? Do you have 24/7 access to your camper?

Covered storage, 24/7 access, fenced and gated with cameras... $80.00 per month. Just west of the D/FW Area at the edge of suburbia.

The more urban you are the more you will pay - land costs and taxes are just higher. Obviously paved will cost more than gravel. 24/7 access will cost more. Security will cost more. And COVERED will cost a LOT more.

I'm in Decatur Georgia a part of the Atlanta metro area. I pay $100 per month for a paved site with a gate that is manually locked. It stands open 8a to 5p weekdays, 8a to 12n on Saturday and I can't get access on Sunday. There is a guy who lives in an RV on the lot but no cameras or other security measures. Just a few miles from home.

Prior to this lot I was on a gravel lot, no security but a part of an RV dealership. It was open if they were open. It was $85 per month - about 8 miles away. The dealership decided they needed the lot for inventory and gave me 30 days to get out.

Prior to that I was renting a spot next to the fence of a storage building site, cameras, key code gate, good setup but $125 a month (which is why I switched.)

Prior to that I was on a lot off Peachtree Industrial behind a storage facility. It was a secure lot but they let landscape trucks park there. Those trucks came and went every day - they beat the hell out of my RV - Over several months they broke a window and punched several holes in the aluminum skin. I think it was rakes and other "stuff" hanging off their trailers and trucks hitting the RV as they backed in and out. The fact that the lot had cameras was useless as it was usually weeks before I discovered the damage and their recorders didn't store video that long. They also could have cared less - which is why I left that LOT. I don't remember what I paid there - but it wasn't cheap.

As to free driveways -that's not allowed by code in the Atlanta area - but in six months I'm moving to a lot on the lake and they are already grading for my RV shed. How much that "covered storage" costs depends upon how long I want to amortize the cost of construction :-).

Where I live it runs about $50/mo for uncovered but secure storage. $100/mo for covered storage.
Also should add that cover storage is VERY hard to find. Usually have to start looking months in advance.

During the summer, the trailer is parked in our driveway, so I can get to it whenever I want. In the winter, we have a storage yard where I'm playing by the foot, plus because it's "seasonal" storage, they give me an extra month for free. So from Nov 1 to Apr 30, and I get Oct for free -- costs me somewhere around $30 per month. It's 10 minutes from home, locked and gated compound and access is by appointment only. Since I have no need to get to the trailer when it's in storage, it works fine for me. All I do is give them a call a week or so before I want to get it out of storage. I also give them a call a week before I drop it off in the fall, so they can make sure they have room and can plan the layout for their outside yard.

The first year we stored our trailer there, I had the chance to look at the indoor facilities they have. Motorcycles, boats, classic cars -- I felt if people could trust this place with their vehicles that are worth more than mine, then it's probably a good place.

This past fall the owner told me she wants my trailer between the school bus and the shipping container. It was a tight squeeze but she helped guide me in.

I'm up in MN and have parking restrictions in my city so year round storage is needed for our WH 27DSLR. I've been paying 59 a month for gated 'secured' storage on a class 5 gravel surface. As much as it irritates the wife that she can't keep it in the driveway all summer I like it in storage as I have limited parking space with it at home.

I should have added - lighted, cameras and dump station on site.

Security fenced, open 24/7, not covered, Cameras. No on site scale, on site dump station (open during business hours only), free firewood (not that great), far enough out of town to keep the 'riff raff' out, close enough to get the camper home in 30 minutes. Parking surface is 'reclaimed asphalt'

60 / month for a 32 foot spot (which in my case holds a 33.5 foot camper). The spots in the city run 80 for the same amenities. First and last rent due up front, must give 30 days notice before 'vacating' the contract.

Gated, security fenced, electronic keypad, 24-hr access (in and out), not covered, lighted, cameras, gravel parking, owner lives nearby, $45/mo, rural area, about 5 minutes from my house. Just about the cheapest in the area, especially for what you get. And owner is a client of mine, so I'm happy to patronize his business.

My neighbor stores his *covered* a little further down the road, rural, don't know about 24-hr access, repair shop on-site, $100/mo, about 15 mins from home.

My 31 foot Melbourne is kept at a blacktop lot which is enclosed with a 6 foot fence. Lot has security cameras and well-lighted. Access is through a coded security gate. That gate cannot be opened between midnight and 6 am. I'm paying $48 per month.

Me too. I paid $2400 up front to get a covered site in my backyard though. Figure I'll be in the house for a total of 12 years, that works out to about $200 a year for covered storage, 24 hour access, electricity, etc.

There are no fees for our outdoor, gated and paved storage lot, just a key deposit. It's a private lot in our community that is available to the homeowners only.

I pay $60 a month for storage inside an airport hangar building at the former KI Sawyer AFB about 30 miles from home. Parked it in November and will take it out in April. Need to provide at least 2-3 weeks notice to get it out. Am debating on buying a cover and parking it in my back yard next winter.

Indoors - pole barn on an old farm property about 30 minutes from our house. Owner is a childhood friend of my wife. Limited access. November thru April. We're also storing our vintage Beetle convertible there. $100/month for both.
We have a village ordinance that prohibits RV's or camping trailers in front of the house from December 1st to May 1st. We used to store our pop-up in the backyard for free.

Sorry, but I hate all of you! Just kidding...We are here in So Calif where everything is more expensive. We have a 12' x 50' uncovered concrete spot, full security with manager living on site, but we pay $199/month. And the sad thing is there is a waiting list at every storage lot within 20 miles. Should have bought a plot of land 20 years ago and built an RV storage lot! We'd be set for life.

Our storage is simular. In a pole barn all winter, we pick the on/out dates. $85 all winter. Bad part ot is 100 miles from home.
