This guy took a wrong turn somewhere

This is young male moose spotted this week in north central Kansas (Jewell County). Needless to say, moose are not often seen in Kansas. Kansas Department of Wildlife said this guy wandered in from Nebraska, though I've never heard of any moose population in the Cornhusker state.

Moose were reintroduced in the North Park area of Colorado about 40 years ago. I'm thinking this guy, taking inspiration from Forrest Gump, may have taken off for a walk and just kept going.

That peeked my interest so I googled it. Apparently there is an elk season in Kansas so seeing an elk shouldn't be too surprising.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism recently approved dates and quotas for the 2018-2019 elk hunt.

Just curious, What does Elk hunting have to do with a moose?

And a reminder that that is a moose and in Kansas not legal to hunt. You can come here to Maine to participate in the moose lottery.

Because if you want to see a moose just go elk hunting- because you'll see everything but a elk! LOL

That's funny but the Moose hasn't played in Kansas City since 2018. He had a lot of fans here in KC when he left. He just signed a 4 year contract with the Reds.
