But a 23ft Airstream TT is 80 grand. One would hope they are still built well.

How much do you think a PINNACLE or DESIGNER sell for?

Yes I know but they are much larger, heavier, and have multiple slides where the Airstream 23 I mentioned has none. Some of the larger Airstream TT`s are much, much more then that. And TT`s are also less money then 5ers in general. The best no slide TT Jayco offers might MSRP for 25K. But I realize that`s comparing apples to oranges when comparing a Jayco TT to an Airstream TT.

But the bottom line is they have been allowed to operate as they did before their buyout and it had no negative affect on their operations.

I haven't followed Airsteam, only going by models the local dealers sell and their comments on those models.

Airstreams have a cult following, which is why Thor will keep them top-shelf. There aren't many other towable RVs that enjoy such status that I can think of.....other than a Casita.

The rest of their model line is going to suffer, in my opinion.

Let`s hope that is the case with Jayco as well.

As most everyone, we are devastated but not surprised by the news. Having worked for a company that's been bought, sold three times its not likely going to turn out well for those who wish to have the quality, service and features we all cherish. It's tough on families to successfully, efficiently own and operate large businesses. Corporations have high dollar Corporate officers who absorb huge amount of operating capital. That essentially means the consumer gets the screwing by corporations removing all aspects of quality, service, and key features. I work for a global corporation with over 100,000 employees. I work next to executive daily and never does the customer come up in conversation as to how we can broaden the satisfaction and retention. Sorry guys for the negativity but believe me, I have lived this life of acquisitions for 28 years. The hope is the Jayco legacy will stay intact, but we are going to Hershey this year to look around at products other then Thor. I won't buy a product from them, do the research. Many of the comments on this post are 100% correct as to what they have done to manufactures they acquired.

Wow go figure...Funny thing is I just bought my used 2007 Jayco Seneca on July 2. Doesn't really matter, just funny. I did a lot of research and I have wanted a Jayco Seneca the year they came out. I loved the fact that Jayco was a family run business with very good quality. Back when I bought my first RV in 1986 , second RV in 2000. I stayed clear of all Thor products due to poor quality.

My goodness people....chill!!!

Lets see how it plays out instead of already writing this off as a 'bad deal' for the consumer and the Jayco product line.

No wonder ! Are we not buying something NEW ?

Should we pay an extra to have our new toy repaired before delivery ?

I personnaly dont think so , but hey its just me

So will Thor service Jayco's for warranty work? That may be a good thing as the # of locations will increase.

Some of the many competing companies acquired by Thor have had some quality problems of their own [ Montana for example] JMHO- DD

Stopped at my local dealer yesterday to ask about some issues we had camping last weekend and they don't have any PUPs in the showroom or even new ones in stock. When we bought ours last fall they pretty much indicated they didn't plan on ordering more except when customers wanted them.

From what I'm reading, 18 pages of worried people since July 1st, I'd say that Jayco has a "cult following" too. Don't put the cart before the horse. It's happened...see how it plays out. Hopefully, everything will be okay. All I can tell you is that before we purchased our Melbourne, we never paid attention to the Jayco brand. Now that we have one, we realize that they're everywhere. Another thing I've noticed, it seems that there are more Airstreams out there than ever before. Maybe it's because of Thor or despite it, but it's a fact.

Airstreams, you love them or hate them. They have a cult following from yuppies that keeps them selling.

My uncle had one that he fulltimed in for years and I could have purchased it many years ago. I felt like I was in a coffin every time I went in it.

On the flip side, Tiffin has that same cult like following, problems and all, yet they still have never sold out to any major player. That may change in the next decade with the 3rd generation. Will be watching their sidekick Vanleigh as well to see if they'll sell out. If Bob Tiffin ever gets out of the picture, very likely things could change.
