[One Country Boy]

Tropical Storm Ida, turned into a hurricane and then back to a tropical storm. Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi were lucky this time. We received about 5 inches of rain at our location in the Florida Panhandle. The history on my anamometer indicated we got some gusts of about 40 mph during the night last night. The loss of commercial power once last night for just under an hour. Nothing real serious.

The overlays in the below photo, from this morning, shows the canter of the low pressure area NW of us with most of the rain having past. I am located very slightly NE of the "Y" in the words "Panama City". I hope everyone else faired as well as we did.

If I remember right, that area has some pretty beaches. Glad you are ok and faired well. Hope your region continues to be lucky this season.

Good morning and thank you for the response. Yes, we are known as the "Emerald Coast". We have "Sugar White" sand beaches from Cape San Blas to the Destine Ft. Walton area. The waters are also very beautiful blue to emerald green colors. I guess we prefer the hurricanes over your earthquakes.

Yup! We here in Cali are known for our floods/fires/earthquakes! All three of which usually happen without warniing. We don't live in a flood zone (yea!) and although we are within blocks of oak scrub brush, we pretty much don't have to worry about the fires. But those earthquakes.... sheeesh! We haven't had one in our area for a long while, but we stay prepared with extra food, water, and have valuables or breakable "stuff" anchored down or placed so that they don't fall and break when the trembling moves them around.

Back in 1993 when we traveled the Southern states in the summer with our two kids, we stayed in Destin Florida. Our pictures show us enjoying the beautiful white sand beaches. That's also where my daughter and I (hubby and son would only watch - Chickens!) as we did a bungee jump. Neat memories
