Verizon's Veteran Discount = Upgrade to Unlimited data
For those of you that are veterans, on active duty, or have kids that are on your plan that are veterans or on active duty, or if you are on their plans, there is a Veteran discount. Well, you get the idea.... In my case, we are on my son's Verizon account (forced me into an iPhone) and he called me while he was at the Verizon store and asked me to send a picture of my VA ID, so we could all get a discount. The discount was equal to the cost for an upgrade to "Unlimited Data plan", so he took it. For a few months out of the year, before he got the unlimited, we were over the allotted data max.
All happy now, especially with all the videos of the 2 year old twins.

Mustang - Do you know what percent the discount is? At Verizon I get a 22% discount from being at the hospital. Is veteran discount better, as I am a veteran? Thanks and thank you for your service.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

Glad that veterans are being shown more appreciation today versus in the 70s. My dad retired in 1970. After joining the Air Force(Army Air Core then) when WWII started, gunner on a bomber missions over France and Germany. Served in Korea and Nam. When he retired he got a handshake and a small retirement.

As of the end of last year Verizon does not allow employer discounts to apply on their unlimited plans. So it is not an equal comparison. they only allow the military discount to be apply to their unlimited plans.

Went over to Verizon and talked with them this afternoon. Took my mother along since she has a Military ID because of my father being combat wounded and 100% disabled. (USMC B-1-5 Korea 52-53)
Verizon said the 15% works best if you are on the unlimited plan and auto bill pay.
The plan I currently have gives me 4GB of data and with 5 phones am paying about $213.08 per month.
With the unlimited plan and auto bill pay and military discount, I get unlimited data and will pay about $206.56 per month.
A little savings is better than no savings, plus, now I get unlimited data for when I use my phone as a hotspot!

I switched to Google FI plan.
$25 1st phone, up to 5 more at $15 each
Data is $10 per gig with a max based on number of phones.
6 gig 1st $60
10 gigs for two phone $100
16 gigs 5 phones $160
FI is really good at finding wifi and then there is no data charge.
contact someone on Google FI to recommend you and you both get $20 off your first months bill
No contract, strictly month to month.
