This might sound weird, but when I was really young, my grandma would pull out an old quilt, lay it out on the grass in the yard, and we'd have a picnic. That old quilt probably hadn't been washed for a long time, maybe never.

Every so often I get a whiff of something that smells like that old quilt. I couldn't even describe the smell to you now, but when I smell it, I know it.

Oh yeah, and I like the smell of rain. It's raining right now, as a matter of fact. And I'm enjoying the olfactory stimulation immensely.

how about favorite sounds?

Loons out on the lake, calling in the early morning or just at nightfall
Grandson did not know what it was, Never hear one before.

Those loons calling brings back some VERY fond memories of canoeing the boundary waters in Minnesota.

Far too many. Coffee, baking, fresh cut cedar, crisp fall day, outside after a nice hard rain, my hounds frito smelling feet -weird, I know. But her feet smell like fritos and while I hate fritos I find it so interesting that her feet smell like that lol

A freshly cut pasture of Alfalfa, horses, a clean barn, the hay loft, freshly brewed coffee, the smell of a clean leather saddle, and all the smells of my favorite fly fishing stream in CO.......and my wife's hair after she's shampooed it.

Freshly sawed pine, like at a house under construction.
Mowed grass at the peak of summer.
The ocean (any part of it).
The interior of any single engine aircraft.
Oh and always bacon!
