Getting ready to hook it back up to my RAM so I don't have to do it tomorrow morning. Unfortunately it's still around 100 degrees here in Death Valley, but I have plenty of water to drink. A/C is running (76 in my TT), and after I sweat out my beer, err, I mean water hooking up to the truck, I'll take a nice shower and relax. Tomorrow afternoon I'll be setting up camp in Quartzsite AZ, probably an 8 or 9 hour drive.

Replaced the ceiling vent in the living area of our 27RLS with a Maxxair Maxxfan Deluxe with the smoke tint lid. Removing the old sealant took most of the time, the fan installation went pretty fast. Tied into the power supplying the lights down the center of the trailer.

Took the battery off the tender in the garage and put back in TT. Hopefully it stays charged while installed this week for trip next weekend to Ray Roberts SP.

I will be hooking up at Road Atlanta (in the rain) for the trip back to my home base south of Birmingham, AL. The only positive is the weather forecast is for less rain as I travel west. Fingers Crossed!

Arrived back at my home base in central Alabama from Road Atlanta. All set up and doing laundry.

It rained almost the entire time at Road Atlanta this year, but at least it wasn't NASCAR or the racing would have never started.

Since most of the time was spent inside my Onan added 72 hours to it's clock during the 5 days. Now at 302 and working perfectly burning zero oil during the entire 72 hours.

Threw in the towel on the 12VDC Genset idea.

A neighbor gave me a 1,000W 2-stroke genset that wasn't working....

It works now.

Is easier to start, larger fuel tank, less likely to fall apart AND fits in about the same space as the 12V kludge I built.

So this is how I am bringing extra electricity with us starting next spring.

Hey Mike,

I found that the built in inverter only charges at 3 amps. I picked up a 10 amp small battery charger that I carry to use the generator to power and it charges the battery faster than the inverter, therefore, less generator run time.

Just a thought.

Steve

Cleaned the air filters and changed the oil in my Honda EU2000i generator. It doesn't quite have 100 hours since the last oil change, but I ran the Honda for about 8 hours yesterday and it was really windy and dusty here in Quartzsite.

First five hours were to bring the batteries up to a complete charge. During the last three hours I set my 40 Amp Xantrex stand-alone charger to "Equalize" mode, which stirs up the electrolyte, helps remove sulfation from the lead plates, and prolongs battery life.

According to the manual....

Bulk charge is 10A, then 2A maintenance charge. After that, it goes into float mode: 2A thrown at the battery when needed. Plus the converter runs the 12VDC systems when the trailer has 120VAC available.

--------------

It's bad practice to run 2 battery chargers at the same time, so I presume you are running the 10A charger when the RV is NOT plugged in to the grid or a genset?

Just went out and bought a Winegard Wingman to add to my TV antenna. Installation took about 10 minutes, start to finish. Made a big difference- better reception and more channels. Paid full retail (about $40), but that's OK. I wanted it NOW!

Correct. When on the battery charger, I am not on shore power.
