Clean up the wiring and plumbing and make the beds more solid. The manufacturing process was just as sloppy in 2005 as it is now. But we'll make it our 2nd home the way we like it. Love the heated underbelly as we use it more during 4 seasons. Dealer has the brakes and bearings serviced and got new battery and new 30 lb. propane tanks. And so we keep having fun. Because of its low profile and lite weight I can tow without WDH and sway bar. No problems with semi's passing by.

What Did You Do To Your Jayco TODAY?
How often should bearing be packed? 1x a year for light use correct? 2x a year for moderate to heavy.
I'm still so new to RVing I don't know what maintenance should be done when. I'm sure it's on the forum somewhere.

We travel about 5,000 miles a year and so far I've repackaged at the end of every season. It might be overkill, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Measured for a new toilet, repaired a leak in the bath faucet. Returned defective alarm monitor, re-ordered another.

Every 5K is what our dealer recommends. I decided to to have this done at the beginning of each season so I just picked it up from the dealer after having it done.

Cleaned up the rear bumper and tongue with some sand paper and sprayed a new coat of Rustoleum semigloss black on them. Also put a coat on the rear stabilizer jacks.

Getting things ready for an early morning escape tomorrow. Leaving Quartzsite before dawn, and arriving in Moab, UT tomorrow afternoon.
Filled up the truck and a couple 5 gallon containers with gas, filled up propane, washed clothes, bought food and some cheap Arizona booze, a new tube of Dicor sealant. Still have to get the bed of the truck loaded, tires aired up, and the inside of the TT ready for travel.
Last, I will hitch the TT to the TV, go dump the tanks, and position my rig near the road for quick getaway in the morning.
Looking forward to a ROAD TRIP! And new scenery. The Quartzsite desert has gotten pretty old after being here for 5 months solid. It's also getting too hot for me- 85 degrees isn't pleasant to me.

Has anyone hung a kayak on the ladder on a jayco Motorhome. The kayak is 8 ft long and weighs less than 30 lbs. If the ladder can support an adult it seems it would hold the kayak. I am also considering a 200 CC scooter on the trailer hitch. Has anyone done this and where have you bought the rack. Scooter weighs about 300 lbs.

Just a thought on the kayak, I would be more worried about the aerodynamics if it protrudes above the roof line than the weight. Weight-wise you should be fine I would think.

My first day of the month reminder popped up on my phone reminding me to turn off shore power and fire up the generator for my usual 1 hour run under load. I needed to run a load of laundry anyway so this way I don't have to look around for something to turn on for the load. Ten more minutes to go.

Just replaced the bat wing antenna with the permanent King Jack HD antenna. Tired of water leaking through the bat wing. Also extended the low point drains so they don't drain onto the metal side lips. cleaning out the refrigerator to start it up and load up for our trip next week. Getting loaded ready to go.

Relocated it yesterday, moving it from Quartzsite, AZ to Moab, UT. Everything stayed put insided the TT during the 550 mile trip, including a half dozen gallon jugs of water I had sitting on the floor. Parts of the trip were like a roller coaster ride.
The new Maxxis tires I installed last year proved their durability. Wheel hubs remained cool, or just slightly warm to the touch, so the new bearings are still performing well. New brake assemblies worked flawlessly.
When I started the trip, I had a feeling that the tongue weight was a little high. The truck seemed to want to wander just a bit more than usual. I moved a 5 gallon jug of water from the front end of the TT back into the rear bathtub, and tightened the spring bars one chain link, and the truck tracked steady again with the front end pushed back down against the road.
The 13 hour drive got a bit tiring, but I stopped often to take breaks. Even fried up some eggs for lunch in Cameron, AZ.
Spent a total of $76.13 on truck fuel for the trip, 43.7 gallons, $1.74 per gallon average. I'm glad fuel is relatively cheap again. That total gallon figure is still about 10 gallons short, since I haven't refilled since arriving in Moab. I have the two 5 gallon emergency jugs of gas I carried with me just in case, that I'll put into the truck today.
It was an enjoyable trip, other than hitting rush hour through the middle of Phoenix at 6AM yesterday. I didn't bypass the city as I should have. Other than that, smooth sailing. Once I reached northern AZ and Utah, the colorful banded soils and weathered rock formations appeared. To my eye, it's a beautiful part of the country.
Today I'll run down to the BLM office and see what I can find for free dispersed camping in the area. The nightly camp fee was raised from $10 a night to $15 a night since the last I was here, and that's just too much. I paid for two nights, so I have today to find a new location for my TT.
I even rode my mountain bike a little on the Slickrock Trail yesterday evening after I parked my TT. I used to be a lot more fearless, but I have to admit that now, riding on the rock surface, all I feel is the potential for severe bodily harm. Falling off my bike onto solid rock would NOT be a good thing for my old body! I will find some dirt trails to ride, or hit the paved trail going north from Moab.

I replaced my original bat wing antenna also when I replaced my roof recently. I was tired of the leaks also and I never used it anyway.

Noticed some water collecting under the hot/cold inlets to the hot water tank after getting it back from the dealer. It looked to be seeping out of the inlet threads on the tank side so I drained the tank and pulled both fittings. Neither had much in the way of a thread compound on them so I guess it's not surprising. Put a wrap of thread tape followed by a coat of TFE paste and re-installed them. Also put a wrap of thread tape on the line side when hooking those back up. Will pressurize the system this weekend and check for leaks again. If none then I'll fire up the hot water tank and make sure it's good under temp as well. Fortunately for me these are easy to get to - just pull the access panel and they are right there......
