What Did You Do To Your RV TODAY?

My under cabinet fluorescent in the kitchen went out last night. The ballast burnt up. Today I ordered a replacement LED version. Only a few more and we will be all LED.
New ballasts are available but cost over half what a replacement fixture costs. The 2 bulbs in the old one cost almost $9.00 each x 2.

I was somewhat disappointed when i lifted the mattress of my new Jay flight 267BHSW.
A gaping 2" hole into the storage area on each side. And the stapled on trim already coming loose.
But it's not really a surprise - trailers are all about what can bel seen on the showroom floor and sop i was expecting a couple of odd jobs when i bought it.

I got a couple of 2x2s and cut them to size giving the mattress dime needed support and filling the gaps. Then I filled with caulking and some great stuff gap filler.

Drained the fresh water system yesterday and set the hot water tank bypass. Put a couple gallons of the pink stuff in the lines today so all good for the winter now......

Wow DH did the same thing. The trim had a gap to the front storage bay. He caulk it. Ours was more like 1/4" and daylight showed through. I didn't want anything creeping through the space since it was on my side of the bed. Then DH had the fun job of unclogging the black tank. It was part of a leftover from the pervious owner. All tanks were supposed to have been empty but something was hung up inside restricting the flow. "We" have a few more things to fine tune before we head to NC to enjoy the fall leaves.

Trying to eliminate more of the trailer bounce.
Cut 4-2x4s at 32". Angled the ends to sit flat on ground and sit inside I-beam frame(vertical), at about a 30 degree angle and a 40 degree angle. Drilled (parallel to ground) holes into 2x4 about 6" from the ground cut. Inserted 5" eye bolts (5/16") into each 2x4 and secured with washers and lock nuts. Put 2x4s at each corner of frame. Hooked ratcheted tension cables (1 in front, 1 in rear) to each eye bolt pair and tightened it down.
This really works and it's almost like TT is sitting on foundation. Still have some bounce from the flooring but it's much more bearable.
Try it, you'll like it. Stole the idea from Pinterest and this forum (I think).

In anticipation of the heavy windstorm that is almost upon us I temporarily moved it out of the somewhat open back yard area where we normally keep it and to a much more sheltered spot right next to the east side of the house. With potential gusts of 75mph this seemed to make sense. This also moves it out of the reach of any number of "widow-maker" trees in the overgrown green belt on the north side of the lot. Two years ago we had about a 70 footer fall parallel to the north fence during another wind storm.

Unfortunately I can't do much yet cause its still waiting for prep and tags. But we did go down to measure the storage opening to make sure our Colman NXT 300 will fit through. It's been a long few days for us.

Hello all

So living in the SW there is a bit of a debate on whether or not to get a cover for my RV...
The coarse particulate in the air and mild winters.

Now that being said I feel I would like to get at the very least a roof cover or throw some standard tarps over it.

Any thoughts on this?

Regular tarps and wind may beat your TT up. Did that with our class A many years ago, and never again. We always get a full cover for each one, and are happy with the way it winters, and stays clean.

Brand you would recommend. They all seem to have mixed reviews. I am looking at a ADCO cover

I've used Adco for the last three campers with good luck, am putting it on for the fifth season on this TT. It was the brand that CW sold up until recently. Now they sell Elements brand, and don't know about them. Maybe someone else will help.

We went over to the storage lot to see how our trailer is holding up. The lot was almost filled to capacity with RV's. Many of the folks who leave the desert for the summer have returned. We aired up all the tires as they were low by about 10lbs each. We then swept off all the cob webs from the tires and rear bumper. I also turned on the water pump, flushed the toilet, then added a bit of water to the bowl and ran water in the tub and sinks. Now we need to start plotting and planning our next adventure. It's been 2 months already since our last big trip.

Aqua-shed type. There were ones WAY more expensive but I figure I'll hit the roof with the wash and UV protectant, fill in the micro cracks with do-core, wash and wax and wax again then throw the cover on. Prolly take a whole day but I'll post some pics when it comes in and is installed.
