Installed a new electric a-frame jack on my 2001 Kiwi 17. Purchased from E-trailer where I have ordered quite a few items and have been very satisfied with their service. The hand crank wasn't that bad, but just wanted an electric one. should make things a little simpler.

I installed the MORryde steps. I really liked them - sturdy and easy to install.

Looked at how sad it looks under all the snow we got in the last couple of days.... I think we are up to like 14" of snow.

Single temps last nite so went out before dark and removed cokes from the outside mini fridge. Nothing like an exploded coke to make your day.

We spent part of the morning in our Jayco until things warmed up to the low 70's.

Actually I did this yesterday, but the first of every month routine is: Run Onan for 1 hour under load (which was easy yesterday with 3 electric heaters running), switch Norcold and water heater to Propane for 24 hours. The Onan 5500 required a little more prime than usual since it was 19 degrees outside, but it fired right up and never missed a beat. I keep stabilizer in the fuel and always use non ethanol gas. It now has 441 hours on it and it has never failed me.

All good to go for another month.

I talked about it with a guy at work, and wished I was camping instead of working!

Looked at it as I walked the dog this morning in the 14 degree weather... Normal temps for this week here are 51. Well below that now. Glad I winterized it after Thanksgiving...

Took the rig out for a checkout after installing a few minor upgrades. 27 degrees in Reed Bingham SP in Georgia, 39 miles north of the FL line. City water line froze, but TT was warm and cozy. Only major issue--dealer installed TV mount and TV came off the wall. Attached with black mastic. Took it to the Valdosta, GA CW (which has always done great work for us and under warranty). They'll mount correctly under warranty.

sorry about the sideways pix.

Since I will be on my home base site a little longer this winter than planned, I had my external 150 propane tank filled. 67 gallons added yesterday so I'm good now until fall (I won't be here all summer).

A Little Water Heater Maintenance

It was time to replace the water heater anode. The old one was in service for 28 months (full time use). Really a lot of material left except right up by the plug where it was almost all gone. Note the 1 1/16" nut twisted off when removing. I was all ready for a really tight plug, but it hardly took any torque to remove it since it twisted off. A good pair of pliers and jiggled the remainder out. Cleaned the threads with a bit of CLR and a wire brush, flushed with a water hose and put in the new anode.

I changed it at 1 year last time and it was almost new in appearance, but I went a little further this time. I'm thinking 2 years will be my next replacement. When that nut twisted off of the anode rod I was scared I wasn't going to get it out easily.

Jumped the battery to get the MH started. Not sure why the battery was dead since MH is only six months old and all power was turned off. Once got it going, took MH down to dealer to measure the slide for a topper. Should be installed in a week or two!

Replaced the extend/retract switch on the electric tongue jack, the old one had been sticking a lot this past summer an finall gave out after Christmas, I had backed it into the driveway to park it and the switch quit, I had to use the manual extension to get unhooked, learned it really wasn’t too bad, changing the switch was easy and only cost $23 including shipping.

Hey Drolaw, I'm looking on doing this also, so what is the process on the install and what do you measure? Did you get the three or the four steps?

Let’s see: I hooked up my 2017 White Hawk 24RKS to my Truck. At 8:00am I will be taking it to Camping World and trade it in on a 2018 White Hawk 28RL. Return home and enjoy our new TT the rest of the weekend. My wife won ...
