Started to clean.. It will take a week.. Everything is coated in dust.. And our emergency brake cable snapped in half.. no not from a disconnect on the road! Might be rust.
That's what a hundred miles of towing on logging roads will do I guess. There is dust in everything..

Need to give the whole unit a top to bottom looksee.

Well not today and not to the Jayco. Was actually this past Sunday. We purchased our brand new X23B about a month and a half ago. We previously had a pop up and pulled it with our old 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0L inline 6 cylinder with nearly 278K miles on it. We got a excellent deal on this brand new Jayco and several folks I spoke with said thery were confident the Jeep could tow this trailer. Our first trip out, we discovered the Jeep was not entirely up to the task. We like to camp at a local lake about 30 miles or so from home. There are two roads to get there. One is a steady 7 mile climb and the other is an 8 mile climb that takes the climb in steps. I chose to take the 8 mile believing it would be easier on the TV. By the time I got to the top of the hill, I was at 30 MPH in first gear and the temp gauge was climbing above 210. I deceided I needed more truck. This past Sunday I took care of that situation. Since we just purchased the trailer brand new, I opted for a used tow vehicle and the search was on. I found a 01 Dodge Durango, with the 5.9L V8, 3.92 gears rated to tow 7350 lbs. It has 160K miles on it and a few cosmetic issues, but it seems to be mechanically sound. I had to drive nearly 150 miles one way to look at it, but I bought it and drove it home. Runs nice and smooth, no issues, and got fair gas mileage for having that engine and gear combination. Oh the price I paid? $1,900. Got it smogged and registered on Tues, I'll get the brake controller installed next weekend and then we're going back to the lake for Labor Day weekend. Gonna be interesting to see how it tows.

Unloaded it after a week in southern Utah. Still need to scrub it out good and I noticed that one end of the cabinet above the dinette is loose and sagging from the ceiling just a bit. Best I can tell it's always been this way as there is no signs there has ever been a screw in that corner even though it's right below a stud in the ceiling. Other than that everything worked great the whole trip...

Now I have to travel 4 hours back to pick up my TT, may just decide to camp there again when I pick it up.
My wife was one of Dr. Epley's patients in Portland OR about 2003. He was in his eighties than. I think he has passed now. Great man.

I finished up the resealing on the roof today. I put Eternabond tape on the area where the front cap meets the rubber roof. I have now resealed the entire roof with Eternabond on the straight areas or Dicor on the round places like the vent caps and antenna. The extra Eternabond tape, new tubes of Dicor and the cleaners will go into a small box to be kept in the trailer for use on the road if needed. I also got the pleasure of cleaning off the gobs of silicone that someone put on the front cap.

Rerouted black tank valve cable that's been hard to open since new.
Painted step frame that was fading and rusting.
Good coat of wax on slide ends to make them nice and slick. Was surprised it seem to help slides open and close better. Motors do not sound like there dragging or laboring as hard anymore. I'll see how it last.

Sound and heat insulated the cab, changed generator oil, installed Hatch Lift for rear "wet bay" compartment door, installed new U-bolt for Hellwig helpers and got them adjusted correctly (FINALLY)!

Was a busy weekend, and still got quite a bit of work to do before we head out!

Ordered the Micro-Air Easy Start 364 for the main A/C unit. I should be able to run the A/C while loading up and plugged in at the house after I install. My buddy has one and told me that he doesn't sweat when loading up in the summer anymore. Here's the link in case anyone else wants to do some research:

Yes, I'm VERY cheap! But I hate sweating more! I just found a recent video on youtube that looks promising...The guy even installed it on a North Point.
