Everything I need to hook and unhook, without having to fish around in the back of the truck. The first pic is the trial fit, the second is the finished box with 3 coats of paint, and the third is the inside. Since I already had the box and the paint, I just had to spend $3.50 on the latch.

Being out in the open like it is, I would prime and paint the interior as well as you did the outside. First time you travel in the rain, theirs going to be a lot of water inside. Just saying and a little experience, did the same type of thing once! Looks good tho.

Pulled the hubs and did the annual bearing/brake maintenance before hitching it up to the new F-250 for the first spin. Took a little bit longer for the bearings this year as I switched grease to Lucas Red n Tacky. I had been using a bio-based red grease which worked really good but seems to be hard to find outside of online or special orders.

Brakes are still quite weak even at 10 on the gain so will need to do some additional adjustments and research on the F-250 brake controller.

Yup, I was thinking about that. Just ran out of time and energy today.

Once you scroll through the brake options on the controller you'll find 3 different power levels, low, medium and high. Nice feature.

Thanks for the reminder! I knew I had seen that when I originally added the trailer but for some reason I had a case of brain fade today and could not find it to remember what I'd set it at (medium) and adjust it . You mentioning scroll through jogged things loose - I wasn't scrolling down past the change brake type setting. The RAM had a similar setup but not as many menu options to scroll through. I will say I like the checklist feature on the Ford.

I also suspect I may have backed off the star wheel a few clicks too many when I adjusted the brakes after repacking the bearings earlier. The RAM controller could be a little grabby so I got in the habit of loosening things up a bit to counter that. I left it hooked to the truck tonight and will jack it up in the morning and fine tune the star wheel some more.

Did another round of star wheel adjustments on the brakes which definitely improved things. I also ended up adjusting the brake effort setting on the controller from medium to high. Then took it for a 40 mile spin and all seems to be working well now.

After washing the HTT last night, I decided to wax it for the very first time ever, I really used some type of liquid polymer. It went a lot quicker than expected. Boy did it shine at sunset.

Recalibrated my made by Joe leveling sensor to be 1 inch high on side with 2 slides. Now perfect when the slides are out. Plugged in for charging and opened it up.

After the light fixture over the kitchen table came apart for the 3rd or 4th time (I forget exactly how many times) I fixed it for good this time. The last thing I want to do after arriving at a destination is to have to put this fixture back together. This time I took it off of the ceiling, added some extra wiring length so I had room to work, reassembled the pieces putting blue loktite on all threaded parts, then rewired it up and screwed into the slide ceiling. Done!

One thing that really irritates me was the lack of any extra wiring length in order to really work on this. At the factory they obviously install fixtures and then pull the wiring out as far as they can to make the necessary connections in the wall somewhere leaving virtually zero wiring to work with at the fixture.

I may never get this fixture apart again, but it definitely won't unscrew itself while traveling again. I might have used red loktite, but I only had blue.

Used Chemical Guys gloss works car shampoo to wash it. Followed up with Meguiars Hybrid ceramic wax on the sides.

Testing out Turtle wax seal n shine on the front cap. Easy to use and looks great but it has the smell of Brut cologne [emoji2957]

Called the shop to get an update on some repairs. They're working through Jayco warranty, so STILL waiting on parts.

I'm getting pretty darn antsy to get out of here...

Good news is they said I could come get it for Memorial Day weekend and use it and then bring it back if it's not done by then. We traditionally go visit my dad that weekend, and while he has a place for us to stay, having the camper is MUCH nicer. Especially since he basically has full hookups in his driveway, just like I do!

Ommish not building them like they used to.

Had a 2012 Jayflght, very few problems, pretty god quality. Traded for a 'different brand', and last year gave up trying to 'fix' bad build. Traded back into a Jayco, and other than the front cap, shower seal, trim channel cover vinyl missing, outdoor gas grill connection inaccessible, hasn't been much I couldn't fix myself. Which has been a bunch.
Latest: Went out to inventory and get ready to go someplace, lifted cushions on dinette and found everything pulling apart underneath. No screws, only staples. Bought some 2" corner braces and already had assortment of cabinet screws, and an hour later, fixed. Took the support ledge off the facia, put 2.25" cabinet screws into the supports, then braced the cross timbers. Even put 1.25" screws into the non-removable part. Hopefully DW will not fall through (nor I) and damage ourselves or what's underneath.

Had a similar situation in our 27RLS, daughter-in-law fell thru the dinette.....oops. I also put vertical supports (either 1x2 or 2x2..can’t remember which) under the horizontal supports at the wall so the dinette bench is not just supported by the screws into the sidewall.

Finally stopped raining. Washed the roof, sides and bugs from the front. Un-Winterized it. Washed all bedding. Ready for our trip early June.

Correction: Amish. Somehow close to pronunciation "amiss". My 2012 Jayflight SLX 185RB at $9,250 was WAY better built than my 2018 Jay Feather 23RL costing $23,450. Consolation: The 2002 FR Cherokee 5R and the 2016 Salem Cruise Lite 241QBXL are both made with substandard material, slapped together and can just be described as cheap. I was hoping for better, guess I'll have to wear this Jayco out.
