Checked air pressure, checked for propane tank leaks and secured the battery compartment

Then cleaned her up and loaded her up for our trip to Bellingham tomorrow!

Removed mud dobber nest on AC fan as it was causing a heck of a vibration. Thanks for the tip Tom! That's what happens when I let my rig sit for 2 weeks without using it. Wont make that mistake again. [emoji106][emoji16]Click image for larger version

Got back from a week in the redwoods. Gave the awning its first good cleaning after rain and redwood needles took their toll. Cleaned the bathroom, mopped the TT floor, hosed off the muddy patio rug, chocks, and stinky slinky track and returned the rig to the RV yard. Vacation is tiring!

Finally got round to replacing the OEM radio with a decent Pioneer.
(I say "finally" because I got the new radio for Christmas...)

As expected, it turned out to be anything but simple. Jayco wiring colour codes don't match, and the "industry standard" DIN mounting sleeve was slightly over-sized and bent out of shape, so the new radio actually slid though it and threatened to fall out the back. Fortunately, Pioneer provided a new one in the box.

So a simple "plug and play" turned into "rewire, plug, unplug, swear loudly, remount, plug again and finally play"

A tip, for anyone going the same route:

Many(most?) auto radios expect two 12v connections. One direct to unswitched battery power, to maintain their internal memories, and one from the ignition switch, to turn them on and off. In the case of a TT, there's no ignition, obviously, so don't forget to identify the "ignition" wire and splice it to the regular 12V. This will avoid a lot of head scratching and bad language. Ask me how I know :-)

Over the last couple of weekends: I flushed and sanitized the water system, checked out the frig, hot water tank, and the batteries. Yesterday we adjusted the brakes. We are going to adjust the neighbor's Jayco brakes in a little while. I also took the trailer to the tire store (1 mile) and had the tires aired up. They only were 5 psi low. I need to run the Honda twins just to make sure they are ready for the summer camping season. I now have the Green Mountain Grill warming up to cook meat to take on our vacation. We should eat good.

I went fishing...
In the rear blackwater tank...

Okay so we always dump the dish water in one of the black water tanks. Keeps things cleaner down there (at least we hope). Anyway on our way home while camping in Likely California I dumped the dishwater down the back toilet and heard a piece of silverware clatter and clunk its way down into the tank.

Oooo bummer. Our brand new Seneca has a macerator and a spoon or fork would hose it up right quick. So we left the tank full home when we got home while I worked on a way to get the thing out of the tank.

What I came up with was a 3/4 inch piece of PVC conduit, a 90 degree corner, and a metal electrical fish tape, and a magnet ring I pulled out of a tool picking up magnet we got at Harbor Freight for 4 bucks.

I cut the 90 so it still provided a curve to force the fish tape directionally in the tank yet fit in the toilet drain port. Ran the fish tape through the conduit, then zip tied the magnet to the fish tape.

I dropped the end of the conduit, fish tape, and magnet into the tank and began pushing more fish tape into the tank. After a bit I heard an extra noise. I slowly pulled the contraption out and viola a butter knife was hanging (along with some other nasty things) from the magnet.

Made my day.

With the trailer in the driveway I managed to get a few things done. I finished the under bed storage wall and got the cross braces installed under the bed. Replaced the Simmons Special mattress with a nice new Zinus 8" green tea mattress and put up the Extenda-Shower so my DW can get rid of the beige shower curtain she despises.

And lastly installed the TPMS booster. While I was under, I think I may have found a mice entry point (at least it was a small hole that looked like it had been chewed up a bit). That's on tomorrow's list along with lubricating the stabilizers so they aren't sticky.

Nah...worked oilfield for a long time in lots of different countries and had my share of nasty experiences a lot worse than the contents of a blackwater tank. Nothing a little soap and plenty of hot water couldn't fix.

Got the bugs off the front cap from last week's trip. Checked batteries' water level and added a little distilled. Added some air into tires to get them to 80 lbs. Secured a loose nut on the grey water drain valve. Torqued lug nuts to 105.
It sure is nice to have the 5er next to my driveway so I can do things when I have some time.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

Replaced the TPMS batteries and adjusted tire pressures while I had the sensors off. Also gave her a bath and coat of wax. Used Meguiars Synthetic Spray Wax for the first time (thanks Magnolia Tom for the recommendation) and love the stuff.
