Not that I am behind my 2019 TT maintenance schedule, but here it is July and I am first getting on the roof to high-pressure wash it.

The other morning I woke up and saw some delamination by the wardrobe and decided to check it out. Well, the rain gutter near to the rain gutter spout had pulled out away from the gutter seal (flexible rubber piece) making it an opening for water to enter the TT. Looked like some water may have got behind it and with the winter freezing, expanded the rubber gasket. So I taped up the opening, washed the roof and today I used the Dicor caulk to care for the leak. We will see this afternoon/evening how that works out.

When I got on top of the roof there were quite a few large branches on the rear end of the roof. When I removed them, I found a small split in the roof covering. Well another fix using the RV tape this time.

I also removed the self tapping screws in the vertical awning support (same area where the leak was) and re-caulked them. When I removed the protective plate where the awning power cable enters the TT, I noticed that there was no caulking at all. The cable was wet from last nights rains and so I used the Dicor to fill the space around the cable. If you have an electric awning, you may want to check where the cable enters the TT for caulking.

I almost forgot, I also removed the Fridge vent cover to clean under it, and as usual there were a lot of leaves and small twigs on top of the wire screen. I took the picture after I started cleaning it up a little. How does yours look?

So that is what I did to the EAGLE over the last 2 days. Wheel grease is next.

Picked up my trailer and took it to the scales. It’s heavy. Just as I thought. At least heavier than my past trailer. Still came in under all weights with good margin except GVWR. Over that by a few hundred. I’d expected that though.

Towed her to the house to get ready for up coming trip. Both fridge & a/c are on chilling things down. Trying something new this year...instead of all 4 bikes on the back of the 5er, I put 2 on the front of the TV. I never had a problem with all 4 on the back, but seeing them bounce around in the camera I just wanted to redistribute some of the weight. I even use one of those hitch clamps on the back, which helps, but doesn’t eliminate the bounce all together.

Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but seeing bikes on an RV like that reminds me of an accident I saw in Los Angeles on the 405 freeway. Two bikes fell off a motorhome and caused a 10 car pile up on one of the busiest freeways in LA. Multiple serious injuries, a few cars totaled and the motorhome driver was liable for the accident. Hope he had very good insurance...

Thanks...I do have great insurance. And that's why I put 2 bikes on the front. I have the camera to watch the bikes in the rear & even if they did manage to fall off, I have a cable lock thru the bike frames and wrapped abound the hitch. Should give me enough time to drag them to the side of the road.

Spent some quality with Dad and the sewer hose

So last month while heading over the big Bridge coming into Astoria Oregon we almost lost our sewer hose to the highway. The passenger side bumper cap had dislodged and the hose was draining behind the trailer like a piece of TP stuck to a shoe. We were able to salvage the hose with minimal damage

I was discussing the scenario with my father and he said he had a mod to prevent a repeat occurrence. This was the final outcome, custom made pins.

I did something similar. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole through the top of the bumper, then through top of the cap and installed a cotter pin. Haven't lost a hose since.

I see way too much moving and shaking on things mounted to the back of all types of RV's especially longer rigs. It just isn't worth it to me to do it. I have a factory installed hitch on my Designer and I have never used it and won't. When I am traveling and come up on a rig with "stuff" mounted on the back I back off. I don't want to get hit.

Good luck to all that do it, but I just can't.

Tore off awning arm. 😡

It was bent out about eight inches from coming down on a cooler that was sitting on our folding table. We were going to just live with it until the end of the season but then tragedy struck! The bent arm got caught on a tree branch and was torn completely loose. The awning stayed rolled up so after i removed the wreckage we continued on down the highway. We were both sick about it. THEN....the awning opened like a parachute and completely destroyed the only remaining arm we had left. The road side surgery that followed was painful. Hoping that our insurance will cover it but not holding our breath.

Was still getting a saw dust shower every time we turned the bedroom A/C on, so pulled the vent cover to see what I could see. Nothing was obvious, but it appeared the dust was coming from the gap between the ceiling and duct, not the duct itself. Sealed up that gap and the issue is “fixed’. I use that term loosely as I clearly have a gap somewhere in the duct work, but we’re on the road and not in a position to tear into things to try to fix it. That’s a project for another day.

Moved the cleaning supplies out of the tall cabinet to cabinet under sink an replaced that with the paper towels we stored in the closet. Then had to take a break

Camper Bob... we just got back from that area. We weren't able to stay at Rafter J but that place looks amazing. So many amazing things to see in the area. If you get a chance, swing by and get yourself some pie from the Purple Pie Place in Custer. You will not be disappointed!!!!

Safe Travels.....

Rob

Installed a Micro-Air EasyStart 364 on the 13.5K A/C in my SOB. Easily run the A/C now with my Champion 2K inverter generator. Pretty simple install - only took about 45 minutes. While a little pricey it's nice to find devices that work as advertised....
