Hopefully I winterized it properly because we're in a huge deep freeze. No end in sight and coldest it's been in quite a few years. Ugh.

I removed my water hose, drained it so I'm ready for the below-freezing weather that's going to hit starting tomorrow morning. Already have the fresh water tanks filled up, so I'll be good until next Friday when the morning temps should start being above freezing.

This morning it hit 31 degrees, and there was a thick layer of frost on my truck windshield at 7am. I made sure that I opened the lavatory faucet to a slow trickle last night in case it got colder than expected.

I also put my blue Camco water filter in a gallon ziploc bag and put it in the fridge. I read in the forums here years ago that that is a good idea, since keeping it cold will prevent bacteria from growing. Not sure if it's true, but I did it anyway. LOL

I also replaced my old mattress with a brand new one, along with all new bedding. It's been a while, so it'll be nice to sleep on a brand new bed again.

It's going to drop to 24 later this week, and I've had frozen hoses before at that temp. Live and learn.

Out forecast is steep decent...24 tonight, 17 tomorrow night, 11 Wednesday, 10 Thursday, 5 Friday and -7 Saturday. High temperatures no higher than 40, tomorrow, down to a high of 5 by Sunday. Hello Groundhog...Lucky the Layton is winterized, hopefully my Jayco will be ok since occupant has kept it drained and heat on. Bet the tomato plant in the unheated garage is a goner...

I bought a new 8' ladder and didn't really want to mount it to the RV ladder that would accumulate road grime on it. Mounted some brackets in the basement that I can slide it into.

Set my fresh water system to "on the road" mode. I disconnect the hose between the pump and the fresh water tank, and attach a separate length of hose that passes through a hole I drilled into the cabinet. That hose goes into a 6 gallon water cube.

I went through all the trouble getting my TT prepared for the cold and snow, and woke up this morning to no water. Plumbing in the trailer was fine, but the end of the hose in the fresh water tank froze up.

I used my electric heaters last night. The two tanks under the belly aren't enclosed at all, so I don't think running the furnace instead of using electric heat would have made any difference.

Took the couch apart and took out of the trailer so when we go camping we have a place for our new puppy kennel.

You had to take the couch out for a kennel? I can fit one in between my recliners.

Just finished reconnecting my water pump to the fresh water tank. It works fine now that the end of the intake hose in the water tank has now thawed out.

Did you insulate that connection?

Impossible. It was the hose inside the fresh water tank that was frozen.

Oh, wow. I wonder if insulation up to the connection would help. Hard to imagine how an interal part could freeze without a method to transmit the cold.

Run generator for about 1 1/2 hrs. Forgot last month. Hard to remember in winter when your not going camping.

There's no way to access the area above the fresh water tank unless I remove the tank. To the best of my knowledge the intake hose enters the tank at the top.

And the tanks are not enclosed at all. I think that the end of the intake hose was lying at the bottom of the tank, and because of the extended stretch of cold weather, a layer of ice formed at the bottom of the tank and froze the hose too.

About all I could do would be to somehow enclose the tanks, or maybe add a tank heater to the bottom of the tanks to keep them from freezing. But that's not worth the trouble. Connecting my pump to a 6 gallon water cube inside my TT solved my problem, and it's an easy fix.

But I'm rarely in a situation where it's as cold as it has been lately. I should still be in Arizona, but a couple medical issues made me decide to head back north to the great northwest so I'm closer to the medical care I'm familiar with.

Medical problems seem to be resolved, so I'm seriously thinking about heading south again at the end of this month.

Plumbing access

Finished some plumbing work and decided to make the wall panel access easier to remove. Added a couple hinges and some chest locks. Moved the wall plug and light to the ceiling. Not the prettiest setup, but it's functional.

Nice! Did you remove or re-position the outlet that was on that wall?

I moved it to the ceiling next to the light. I may have install a wire guide for the electric lines, but so far they don't interfere with the panel.

I really like the new light position, it now beams light down as opposed to when it was wall mounted.
