On our last trip the a/c evaporator froze over a few times. Today I climbed up on the roof, removed the a/c shroud and cover from the evaporator coil to inspect it. The fins were clean and the thermistor was in place. I also checked the inside for gaps between the intake (air from inside the trailer) and exhaust (air exiting evaporator coils) and didn't find any gaps. Next I'll remove the thermistor to see what the resistance is at room temperature and then cool it to around freezing to see if there is any change. I'm hoping it's simply a bad thermistor that needs replacing versus something more extensive (expensive).

We initially went to an RV repair facility to see about having the fridge repaired/replaced and asked about having an access door put in. They said no way, and you're not likely to find anybody else to do it either. It would be a factory job if you could get them to do it.

The quote from the repair facility to replace the fridge was $4500, not including the fridge - it was all labor at $160/hour. We obviously walked, and after getting the island moved and old fridge our yesterday, I have no idea how they figured 28 hours for the job. I was taking my time and it took all of 1 1/2 hours to get the island moved and after that it was five screws and the fridge was out...

Did it fit through the entry door after removing the doors?

Nor-Cal, our previous unit was a 2016 Rockwood 2504s. It was very nice with a lot of good amenities. We changed campers because we no longer wanted bunks and was tired of the Murphy bed. Now we have a 2020 Jayco 24RBS. Total length is 28’9”. That is just outside of what you are looking for. I can tell you for sure that the Jayco is built MUCH tougher! The frame is 8” tall beam vs a 6” for the Rockwood. The dinette frame is made out of wood instead of hollow aluminum square tubing. Those are just 2 examples. We had no trouble with the Rockwood and it was well made, just understand that it is a “lightweight” unit. Jay

Hello,

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the details of DOT to the customers because warehouse won't be able to check the dates on Individual tires and we stock tires which are up to 4 years old from the date of manufacturing, which is within the industry standard and considered as new Tires.

That kinda stinks! When I got mine the first time, they said I had to order first before they would give the dates on the tires. Mine were all less than a year old (maybe 6 months). I recently order a replacement set and they also just a few months old.

I’m no expert on tires but IF they are stored inside and away from any sunlight, then they’re PROBABLY ok if they’re a few years old but I still would not want them.

Maybe a more experienced tire person can chime in on the topic to enlighten us all.

I agree that stinks also, Dan. Hard earned cash being put down on fresh tires should be known before purchase. Otherwise a steep discount should be refunded if they arrive as 3-4 year olds. My email from them two years ago read just like that, come to think if it. And my six pickup tires came to my address on three different trucks! Which means they probably can from different warehouses. But purchasing brand new tires locally and their dates are over 3 years old is not an industry standard. I just wonder now if Tire Rack abides by that rule? From what I’ve read, a freshly made tire’s life starts ticking away no matter how it’s stored. Wrapping them is said not to matter either. As I’m overly conscience about tire condition, I’d welcome a tire purist thoughts on the subject too.

During our last 10 day trip which we just got back from my Black Tank valve was very hard to pull. Having tried everything I could think of to free it up I decided to dive in and replace it today. I carry a spare with me and was going to attempt it on the road and man I am glad I waited.

Wasn't the worst job I've ever done but getting the gaskets to stay in place while trying to slide to new valve in place was challenging. Not nearly as challenging as trying not to get dripped on though!

The "Blade" on the old valve somehow became slightly misaligned and began chipping plastic every time I pushed it closed. I don't think I had many open / close cycles left in that one!!!

I was prepping for a trip and wanted to pre chill the fridge on propane. Slowly turned on the gas and turned on the fridge. Went out to find it would light but the igniter/flame sensor kept trying to light it after flame was present so after about 10 seconds it would shut down. Oh oh. I knew it was a bad sensor and I didn't have a spare so I removed it, cleaned the end with an emery board and reinstalled. Fired it up again and it did the same thing. Thought I was out of luck but decided to try it one more time and it worked this time! I have turned it off/on about 4 times and it fires right up. Not taking any chances though and ordered a spare. Whew! Camper is in a storage yard with no electricity.

Appreciate the first-hand feedback of the Jayco vs Rockwood. I admit, the only Rockwood I've looked at personally, was a 8324sb Signature model that we were initially considering (before deciding to downsize). First impressions were that the Signature was much better assembled than our Eagle HT. Little things such as wire loom under the slides, the way the underbelly was secured, and the general fit and finish was much, much better.

I have not seen the Rockwood Mini Lite or Ultra Lite in person to compare to a smaller Jayco (yet).

Replaced r/l “ Goodyear “ decals above the fenders. Emailed Goodyear and asked them if I was able to buy o.e. Decals, they pretty much told me to pound sand. Found them on Amazon.

LOL. I couldn’t get mine off fast enough. One summer and they were peeling and looked terrible. To each his own.

Well, Dan, after reading your posts, I got to thinking about the GYEs on our 2018 TT and worrying about their age. I’ve never bothered to check the dates. So I did — they were 2617. We bought it in November 2017, so Jayco did well by us. I figure we still have at least one more year. Thanks for bringing this up.

What Did You Do To Your RV TODAY?

A razor blade and some goo gone came to use as I worked on getting a big orange sticker off my back window courtesy of the city. It’s from July 1, but I just noticed it today at storage. Been parking street side the night prior to a trip and after for 5 years without issue. Then, I moved into a nicer neighborhood(same city) and my guess is a neighbor isn’t big on campers out front.

I did learn my city doesn’t allow overnight trailer parking if over 21’. Learn something new all the time.

I finally repaired my slide out. Last fall, a roll pin had sheered in the gearing of the actuator assembly. The repair also required the removal of a woodruff key which made it more challenging. I really disliked the idea of paying hundreds to replace a penny part. So, some cash was definitely saved!
