Monday, I picked up the pop up from it's first trip, in a steady rain. After a weekend filled with rain, the grass site was a bit soft. I got my truck stuck trying to get lined up to the camper. I was finally able to get close enough to lift and push the tongue just enough to reach the ball. Driving up a very slight, grassy incline to leave was not going to happen. Even though I told my son not to stand behind the truck to push, he did anyway and got sprayed with mud. He said he would be able to laugh about it some day and have a good story to tell his kids. I had to back out through the empty site behind me. Other stuck campers had the CG workers pull them out with a tractor.

He's 14 and we were both wetter than fish and frustrated at trying to close up a wet camper. Getting stuck added to the frustration of not being able to get lined up easily. It has been 35 years since I pulled a trailer and it was his first time as my backing up guide. He wasn't happy about getting muddy until we were about a mile away from the campground.

What Did You Do To Your Jayco TODAY?
Cleaned out the AC filter and removed the interior plastic cover to check on the thermostat wiring and looked at the infamous AC bolts to see if they're loose. They were tight and without issue. Found out I have the 15k BTU unit instead of the 13k I thought I had. Bonus!

Put magnetic covers over my new metal floor registers to keep out dust and dirt.

Using a roll of insulated foil to make interior window covers for blocking the sun. We are headed for 101+ camping Wednesday so hoping these help the AC not have to work so hard. Will use small squares of Velcro on the frames to hold in place behind the shades.

Took the trailer to the dealership for some warranty work. Black tank flush is leaking, one of the outside speakers doesn't work, some weatherstripping was separating from the trailer wall where the slide goes in. . . . Hopefully they can get it to us quickly. They said they'd be "rushing it" to have it done in 2 weeks for our next trip.

As soon as it gets to normal wake up time here in the park I will be running my generator for it's monthly one hour run under load. I normally do this on the first of every month, but I was working the past two days here in the park.
I also switch my refrigerator and water heater from AC to LP for 24 hours monthly. I don't know if it helps, but both units work on either heat source on demand so I'm going to keep doing it. I am in the middle of a major rain storm right now and the refrigerator switch to LP without any problems. Don't know about the water heater yet, but I will be doing a load of laundry shortly so that will tell the tale.

Putting the finishing touches on packing up and hooking up, then it's time to hit the road to the CG. We can check in @ 1!

I'm taking the TT in for service today to have the bearings repacked and for its annual PA state inspection. Once it's back home, I have a number of maintenance items to attend to before I put all the stuff back in it for the season. Yeah, it's a late start, but I've been too busy with other things to camp. We didn't go anywhere until after July 4th last year too. Most of our camping trips this season will probably be in the Laurel Highlands of PA.
