Did maintenance/repair on batteries. Checked them a few days ago and there was a lot of corrosion/buildup on a couple of the terminals.

Removed batteries and cleaned with baking-soda and water. Wire brushed terminals and connectors to remove corrosion. Had a new link cable made to replace the corroded one (the one between the two 6v batteries).

Put everything back together, coating with dielectric grease, and finally spraying all terminals down with battery terminal protector (got at OReilly's)

Looks much better now!

Ordered an electric tongue jack for my Trailer that I have yet to even take delivery on.

My truck has been in Chevrolet's service department for 7 weeks. No truck, no "delivery"...

There was a problem with the active fuel management where my truck was burning excessive oil. Last oil change in 2900 miles it had burnt 4 3/4 quarts of oil. Really that's not a typo.

They first replaced the pistons and rings. But the engine was making pinging noises. Then tore it back apart to change the valves and active fuel management valves, still didnt fix it. Now they have it back apart changing the cam and lifters.

The excessive oil consumption damaged the engine much more than they originally thought, or they tried to cut corners on the warranty work. (I'd bet anything on the second option) They would have had an easier time and cost them much less money to put a re-manufactured engine in it but they tried to get by doing as little repair as possible. Now they are swimming in their corner cutting repairs and rebuilding the whole thing probably costing them triple what the re-manufactured engine would have cost.

Man, that's something, did you call GM to see what they say about it? I would try to get a new engine out of them.

It was a beautiful day in the Okanagan Valley. Extended the awning to air it out and let it dry in the sun. Extended the slideout and check to ensure no leaks over the winter. Cleaned and re-filed the Dri-Z-Air.
All is looking good so far as i begin preparations for a new camping season.

Shoveled about 2' of snow away from the sides of her (it's now below the frame) so that the 12" - 18" we're expecting today has somewhere to go without covering the windows.

I ran 3 loads of laundry yesterday. Today I'm just going to enjoy the forecast 67 degrees. It is supposed to rain all day, but warm rain is good.

Today I replaced the four rusty screws holding down the refig vent on the roof with stainless steel ones. This vent holds tiny pockets of harmless water around the the screw heads. They should have been stainless anyway as every other screw on the roof is stainless. got them at Ace hardware in 10 min for under a buck. :-)

Today, as soon as it warms up, will be water filter cartridge change time. I noticed yesterday the particulate filter is getting a little color to it and my water flow has dropped off a little bit. I use a 1 micron filter cartridge so I do have to change them more frequently than some, but that is ok with me.

This is a fairly common issue with the AFM 5.3l engines, in the newer style body trucks after 2007. There are pages and pages of reading on this issue on the Silverado/Sierra forum.

I am a member there as well. Usually the repair is not as deep as this one though. Most cases seem to be to decarbon the cylinders and replace the oil pan and valve cover.

I called the dealer yesterday and they told me the truck was on the lift and the tech was putting it together the "final time" as long as "everything goes right".

Does that sound reassuring or what?

Good luck and I hope they fix it right this time. I`m sure this has been a nightmare for you. That AFM messed things up. The pre AFM engines were solid as a rock and burned no oil, my 04 1500 with the 5.3 has 148,000 miles and burns no appreciable oil and it is still caramel colored after 4,000 miles....

Brought the Jayco back to storage yesterday. It's always sad to drive away and leave her in the storage lot. And she'll be there a while; busy season at work means no more trips until the end of April

But my new link plates for my WDH shipped yesterday, should be here Friday.
