I installed the SmartPlug about 5 months ago on my 50amp trailer. It was a pricey mod, but well worth it in my opinion. My original plug had a broken locking ring so that was a good motivator to make the up grade.

My camper had a 15’ cord that you had to pull out of a storage tray, then try and push it back in without getting it tangled inside. God forbid if it was cold and the the cord was COLD! I did a lot of research and just decided on the smart plug.
I paid $45 for the outlet and $100 for a 25’ cord BOTH were brand new …so expensive but after seeing them and using them I’ll say they were worth it!

Why do you think they are worth it? What are the benefits over the oem ones?

I solved that problem by installing the Easy Spooler from MORryde in my storage compartment. No more hassle trying to coil up my 50amp cord, especially in cold weather!

Well, as I stated earlier, mine had a 15 foot cord that had to be pushed into a tray under the countertop. The only real CON of the new setup is I need to store the cord somewhere now. I went back and forth between the locking collar design and the Smart Plug. The locking collar design is significantly cheaper to replace or upgrade too over the Smart Plug. My initial impression is positive about the Smart Plug...time will tell on durability.

Installed Lippert Screen Defender on screen door, before dogs have a chance to tear it up.

Lower bunk heater vent
After our first outing this year which had us in temps at or below freezing each night my youngest daughter commented that the lower bunk was a fair bit colder than the main living areas. It just doesn't get much warmth from the heater. So I've been working on adding a low flow heater vent to the lower bunk area. Still waiting for e-trailer to get the adjustable vent cover out, but everything else is finished up and is delivering the desired results.
I tapped into the duct for the bathroom with a Y connector, then went up the wall between the two tank roof vent pipes - just enough room to squeeze in a 1-1/4" PVC pipe with a 90 degree elbow. The bathroom has always had an excess of heat compared to the rest of the vents so this may help with that a little bit - otherwise on the list will be an adjustable vent for the bathroom that can be shut.

Took two gate latches I had salvaged from the welding shed, now TT shed, and modified them to hold the new Blackstone griddle on the mount provided by Jayco for a grille. First, drilled out where the gate latch was to 1/2 inch. Then, figured out where where they needed to be on the bottom of the grille, drilled holes for the carriage bolts...voila. Still waiting for the hard cover and propane adapter, but hey, we are still two weeks out on the birthday...and it was a birthday present!

New Solar Controller
I finally installed my new Renogy solar controller to replace the cheapie Coleman unit that came with the panel. Then while I was at it I took someone else's mod (thx!) and attached my side mounted back up assist lights.

Got on my creeper and checked the bottom of my trailer for any openings in the coroplast bottom covering that critters could enter through, tightened the bolts holding the trailer to the frame…found a few loose ones, ran the AC and electric water heater at the same time off my Predator 3500 generator. The AC starts and runs fine since installing my SoftStart…wouldn’t do that before the SS install when the electric water heater was running. Turned on the refrigerator, checked the furnace and water pump. All set for our trip to Point of Rocks campground in Prescott, AZ next week.

I dewinerized the trailer and then make sure I had no leaks, especially at the new kitchen faucet I installed yesterday.
I had to adjust the rear camera I installed yesterday a little more.
I then gave it a bath so it will look clean to start the camping season off.

Installed 2 lippert thin shade door window upgrades, think it makes the trailer look more finished (matching color tone on glass).

Replacement of a Norcold N7LTD A/C heater can be accomplished without removing the unit from the tt. I know, did it this evening. Remove the lower vent grille. Remove phillips screw from the control board shroud. Unplug the A/C lift control board panel cover, pull wires off lugs...check ohms. Around 50, you're good...higher, replace. Mine was at infinity. remove stove flue screw, squeeze flue until tab releases so you can expand chimney slightly. Trace wire you just unplugged from control board to heat element. Pull up on heater and work it up and out of the tube it is inserted in. The chimney will have to rotate clockwise slightly and go up about 6 inches. after old heating unit is out of the way, take the new unit up beside the chimney, place end in the tube where the old one came our and work it back down. Wire on replacement unit was a little longer than the factory unit but no problem...plug the wires in, screw cover closed, bolt down the chimney, you are in business. After you verify cooling replace cover and go on about your business. If you are "ham fisted" you will not be able to do this. Space is limited and I did wonder whether I would be able to get my hand out of the back of the 'fridge, but I did...

Towed it a few hours to visit my brother in Reno for a few days. It was supposed to be the start of a three-week trip to the Grand Canyon and Utah. However my DW’s mother died suddenly three days before we were scheduled to leave and the trip is canceled while she cares for her 96-year-old dad. For anyone thinking about going to that area, there are three weeks’ worth of RV spots now open!
