I was planning to sell my trailer, so the last couple of weeks I've been doing a lot to bring it up to snuff. Some of the things I've done...

Fixed the wobbly table problem.

Replace the corroded bathtub stopper/drain assembly. When doing that job, grey water soaked insulation underneath so I had to cut a hole in the coroplast, replace the wet insulation, and seal the cuts back up.

Cleaned/waxed the exterior, cleaned the interior.

Cleaned out all the window tracks and frames.

Removed all window screens and the screen door and washed out 10 years of dust and grime.

Painted the front end of the frame and and bumper.

Repaired the air conditioner. Blower wasn't working. Just had to remove and reconnect the thermostat/control wires at the air conditioner, evidently a bad/corroded connection.

Bought and installed a new spare tire cover to replace the original, rotten one that was falling apart.

Bought a pair of new black/grey tank valve handles since both were broken. Replaced one so far.

Tried fixing the broken Jensen stereo. It worked for a while, but crapped out again. Not sure what the problem is.

I think that's about all I've done so far, and there's not much left to do. And now that it's in such nice shape, I'm probably going to end up keeping it.

The best part is... it's always your option, and decision.

Yes it is. I think the rv market is cooling off a little, and anyway, my 26BH was built in 2010, everything works (except the radio), and it's always been a solid little trailer. If I were to sell it now, and buy another newer one later on down the road, who knows what problems it would have. With this one I know what kind of shape it's in.

One other thing I repaired was fixing the lower ends of the trim pieces on the front corners. Both had separated because of the wood screws pulling out. There was a minimal amount of wood rot, so I cleaned it out, reattached the trim with longer screws, sealed the trim with butyl putty and added beads of caulk. Looks like new now that it's fixed.

Removed the rear bumper on Alante, rewelded the totally not very good mounts, while I had it off fabricated 2" x2"x3/16 angle iron braces 24" long, welded to bottom of bumper and bolted to the frame as a cantilevered support. While I had the welder out fabricated braces for the bike rack from 1" channel just to reinforce it against the beating it takes on the back of the MH. Installed metal braces on top and bottom hinges of Norcold refer door.

I just sold a camper I'd bought in 2018, for 30% more than I paid for it. Wasn't sure how the market was shaping out since all indications are a recession is looming, but it sold in 5 days for full asking price. I'd suggest if you're going to sell it, do it before too much longer though.

Thanks. I might just try to sell it for a decent price if the market is still kind of hot.

Replaced the bathroom shelves. They went from the flying hyper adjustable junk to fixed in only two days.

Swapped out the 20 amp auto reset breaker for a 30 amp auto reset breaker for the Slide Out Control Modules. The weight of the kitchen slide was tripping the 20 amp breaker. Jayco has started to put a 30 amp breaker instead of the 20 amp. That should tell you something!! Now my kitchen slide "runs" in and out with no effort at all.

Installed a two burner cook top in place of the capital grill in my in-laws 5th wheel. I have already replaced mine. I really like how it turned out. It is flush mounted.

Not today but yesterday. I replace the seal around the vanity and sink in my year-old Eagle HT. Why do these manufacturers do such a crappy job? Jayco no different than the rest. Also working on some type of maintenance schedule so I can track the thing i do and remind me of what needs to be done. Has anyone been able to get Jayco's Wingmate to work? Don't you love it when you pay high dollar for something and only get part of what you pay for. Does anyone know of another program out there to track maintenance that doesn't cost a lot. Thanks Happy RVing.

I did get a new 7 pin wire harness installed. The old one was about 18" short. I had relocated the wire connections into the water heater compartment years ago and this shortened up the available harness. Fine with the Dakota, but the new TV connection is up in the bumper and on the other side of the hitch.

At least one task got done
Is it safe to drill another hole in the shank? I can find a drill press to put another hole in mine so I can get the tailgate open. Only need a 1" or 1 1/2" to clear the jack.

Ordered replacement cord to restring the rear window blinds that broke on a recent trip. Another is frayed and about to go, too. A shout-out to Cincinnati Kid for his tips on diameter and finding a matching color cord! Thanks.

Well not today but over the past week or so. Let's see, installed a RV Airflow insert in the A/C. I lost the function of the "air shower" in the main cabin, but the difference in the output of the ducts more than makes up for it. It's also quieter which will make watching TV on hot days a little easier for this old aircraft mechanic. Next up was a rack over the toilet in the bathroom. I can't take credit for the idea, another Jayco owner provided the idea and the links to the pieces on Amazon. Next up was replacing the shore power connection with a Smart Plug 50-amp receptacle. I also sacrificed my 30-foot Camco extension cord to become my dedicated shore power cord. It's lighter and more flexible so wrapping up in chilly temps will be way easier. Last was a new farkle provided by my eldest grandson. He got me a cut out metal flag with my branch of service on it. I used 3 small squares of Velcro to attach it to the side of the trailer so I can display it when parked and remove it for travel.
