What kind of camping do you prefer?
What kind of camping do you prefer? For me I enjoy the full hook ups, and amenities which an RV campground has to offer. How about you, are you more of a boondocker or full hookup?

Lets see.. does sleeping in the van with 4 miserable teenagers due to torrential rains, and the impossibility of setting up an old "canvas" tent trailer in the rain, count as boon docking? This happened to us at the Grand Canyon about 5 years ago.. !
Seriously now that we have the big trailer.. I think I want to try it!

I had to put full hookups because of the wife and daughter but I prefer boon docking myself. Getting away from the hook ups and getting to the better fishing places is much better for me than sitting around watching T.V.

Me....boondocking for the challenge of making limited resources last.
The DW....full hookups and a bunch of new DVD's. She's always been a city girl.

we've done it all but I would rather be able to take a hot shower without worrying about running out of water.

Most of the time I'm Mr. Boondocker, but there are also times I like the convenience of being able to use as much water and electricity as I like. Full hookups can be nice, but boondocking is more of an adventure. And I'm an adventuresome kind of guy.

We seem to get by doing whatever we have access too. Sometimes we use ours as a condo on wheels if we are not really camping and want a nice place to sleep. That's when we like having full hookups. Other times we can park in a field and get by without any hookups. That's the joy of having a self contained unit.

I'd prefer boondocking but Texas heat makes AC a necessity.

State Parks For Us
We like State Parks - more room and usually very pretty. We just need electric. Don't like to be on top of other campers. If we run out of water, we just put some in a 3 gallon jug and put it in the tank. Usually bathrooms are pretty clean. We like to hike and drive around and enjoy the scenery a state park has to offer.

Taking 3 kids under 5 years old with us, we enjoy having the full amenities. This doesn't mean we watch DVD's all day, it just means A/C and full use of washroom facilities.

Most of the parks we frequent have "partial hookups".

We have done all types of camping and would like at least partial hookups but in the year we have had the trailer I think tv has been on about 3 times there is just to much to do without watching tv. I would rather sit by the fire and take a nap or read a book as be inside and watch tv. but that is just me.

We actually prefer either/or boondocking/hook-ups depending on the situation on hand only because typically we long distance travel. If traveling and a reciprocal (member with hookups) c/g isn't available then we will look for whatever is along the 'route' when traveling long distance (inlcluding overnights at ie: WM etc of which we use Don's boondocking concoctions - lol).
Boondocking usually is because we have to. Hubby really likes to have the conviences. We both like to BBQ.
If we have a choice, we will do local resort camping that is available (members); we are grandparents that love to hike/bike and enjoy nature, but when we need grandma/pa rest, the grandkids can still remain active with options provided by the youth center. Win/win

We usually do the electric only sites in MI state parks but if the cost and amenities were the same we would go with full hookups. Voted for W + E due to no other options.
