1950 Chrysler Windsor Club Coupe. I inherited it from my dad's aunt. I got it in 1963 and it only had 12,000 miles on it. It was a flat head six with the Presto-Matic transmission. With the flat head six engine and the two speed Presto-Matic, it wouldn't get out of it's own way going downhill, but for a 16 year old it was heaven.

1957 Chevy 210 4-door, 6 cyl with powerglide, and vacuum wipers. Going up a hill in the rain was a trick.

1979 Ford F-100 pickup. Purchased it for $500 when I was 18 and am very lucky to actually still own it today 22 years later. It was an old beat up work truck for a paving company and I did sink a lot of blood, sweat and tears (and money) into it over the years to it's current condition. Has a 302 V-8 and C-4 auto trans. Often thought of towing the TT with it since it would be very cool to show up in the campground with it...

1953 Ford Mainliner. Overhead valve 6 cyl, 3 on the tree with Tee handle pullout overdrive. Installed spark-o-matic floor shift, white walls (clamped between tires and wheels), Blacked out grill (paint), raised front with screw in coil spring spacers, baby moon hub caps, etc. Bought it used in 1963 for $50. Traded it in in 1966 on a 1967 Camero, got $75 in trade. Only time in my lift I didn't loose my --- on a vehicle. Probably be a millionaire today if I had kept it running and not purchased the 30+ vehicles over the years. LOL

You may want to expound on the "Kodachrome" slides portion of the post for the younger generation

DW actually bought me one of those collector item models with opening doors, hoods of the 1969 W30. Will find it and the pictures. I was forced to sell it back in the 70's gas crisis, when I got 5 mpg max going down hill with a strong wind behind me. That 328 degree cam would make your eyes water if you stood behind the car while it was loping at idle. When the '70 W30 model came out my brother bought me the '70 Ram Air hood for my 69 and the ram air induction system for my birthday. A few years ago there was a 69 W30 (real one) with under 50K miles on it for $120K. Had the whole car repainted Black with the White hood scoops.

That by far was her most FAVORITE car we ever owned.

1977 International Scout II. Loved that truck. Had both the hard top and the soft top for it. 304 CID IH gasser, 4 speed stick with granny low. Lock it in 4 Lo, put it in granny low, you could walk faster than the truck moved, but it would move a house, push over a tree, anything...

First Car was a used 1970 VW Bug……….it lasted two years of College and on the final two hour commute trip home it required more oil than gas to get me to within towing distance of home. (Dad towed me home the last 4 miles) that was replaced by a used ugly 1974 mercury Comet 4 dr that died quickly a rust bucket death. By then I could afford new so bought my first truck a 1979 Chev ˝ ton short box with 350 four barrel and standard transmission 4 speed (three but with a bull low 1st gear) I was lucky if I got ten miles per gallon. Many trucks have followed , But would love to have that truck now.

I owned a 1976 Vega for a number of years. Owning that car really taught me how to repair cars. I personally replaced the clutch (repeat after installing it backwards), brakes (only once), carburetor (rebuilt 2x, then replaced), front wheel bearings (damn, it's handling more peculiar than usual), somehow the oil filter failed.

It was the 2nd best snow car I've ever owned: manual transmission, studded tires, and in the trunk were a bag of salt, a bag of sand and 50lbs of lead sheet.

If one ever misses their Chevy Vega..... Aim Better!

That is one sweet looking ride oldnnew! I have a few in my past history that I wished I had held on to, but never had the presence of mind to do so when the next pretty thing came along.

I'm not so sure there is a younger generation here. Most of the cars listed here are a lot older than my first, and I certainly remember what Kodachrome is (and why Paul Simon liked it so much). Actually, reading this thread is making me feel relatively young, and I'm past my first half-century...

Or just run it up the tailpipe of the Ford Pinto I learned to drive in. That should take care of both.

Actually, I really liked that Pinto too. Standard and rear-wheel drive. I could drift that car a full circuit around our neighborhood after a snowstorm, and did it many times to show off. Please don't tell my kids; I'd have to kill them if they tried that stunt!
