1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K20 long bed. 20 gallon main tank behind the seat, two 30 gallon saddle tanks, 350 cu in. engine, TH350 transmission. 8 MPG on a good day. AM push button radio. I miss that rig.

'39 Chevy coupe purchased while still in grade school. Oh, the fun my buddy and I had with that car! Who needed a driver's license back in the early 60s, especially after dark?

1961 C10.
Took the straight 6 and 3 speed out.
Installed a 283 and Muncie rock crusher.

I'd love to have it today.

1976 Chevy Caprice, given to me with a blown engine. Spent $250 for a used engine from the local junk yard, beat on the car for about a year, and then sold it for $650.

1976 Pontiac Grand LeMans with 305 V8. Learned a lot on that car, took several weeks to get it to pass the safety inspection.

Put all that good learning into the next car, a 1980 Chev Malibu. We dropped a salvaged 350 4bbl from a GM Truck into it. Best sleeper car ever!

1967 mustang - it was wrecked and in the Salvage yard or like it was known back then the junkyard. I begged my dad to let me buy it. I was 14 and didn't even have a license. He made a deal with the owner of the yard and they towed it to my house. It took me 3 years of saving every penny and hundreds of hours of labor with my dad but we made her beautiful again.

My dad and I did a lot of cars together over the years but this one was special. The bond created by working side by side with him could never be broken. Now that he is gone, all I have are the memories but they are great ones. What I wouldn't give to do just one more car with him...

The first car I wanted? Was a 1965 Dodge Dart 426 Hemi..I took my dad to the dealer, he was ready to sign on the dotted line for me, UNTIL the salesman opened the hood and started describing the AWSUM power of the 426 Hemi in the little DART, you can see where that went... so I kept my money and the list starts below, BUT I still what that 1965 Dodge Dart 426 Hemi

#1 - 1957 Chevy - used - (removed "6" for a Corvette 327CID (365HP)
#2 - 1962 Chevy - used - Impala 409CID
#3 - 1963 Chevy - used - Impala 283 SS (removed 283CID for 427CID (425HP)
#4 - 1966 VW BUG- used - Fun car to drive
#5 - 1965 Old’s 442 - New - 400CID - 365HP (rebuilt it to 425CID (415HP)
#6 - 1969 Old’s 442 W30 - New (Sports coup 200 made) 460HP- Torque 500+

**************** BREAK IN THE CAR LIFE
----- DRAFTED for an "ALL EXPENSE PAID VACATION IN THE TROPICS" ------

#7 - 19?? Rambler American - Free - (good running car, heater sucked)
#8 - 197? American Motors "PACER" - (weird car) wife wanted it.. so be it
#9 - 197? American Motors "PACER" - did not learn my lesson the first time
#10 - 1971 Chevy Vega - Free - Blown 4 cyl engine - Oh look...I replaced it with a 327 bored to 331CID (400+ HP) w/Rock Crusher 4 spd/4:11 Rear (loved to pull a 4K grand hole shot and pull the front wheels off the ground for the kids. For some reason they loved seeing the bellowing smoke coming ot to the rear wheel wells.
#11 - 1983 Old’s Cutlass - New - Absolutely no sign of ANY performance just economy
#12- 1965 Mustang (hence my user name) - Used - Restored ground up, many 1st place throphies- sold :-(
#13 - 1990 Mustang - New - 4cyl & no performance - not even good gas mileage
#14 - 19?? Dodge Mini Van - no opinion necessary (100K miles)
#15 - 1970 Dodge Bee something or other - Free - 383CID rust bucket - never worked on it:-(
#16 - 20?? Honda Mini Van - New - for DW (accident to side.. Sold) 120K miles
#17 - 20?? Honda Mini Van - New - for DW (traded in on the 2012 Ford - F150 - EcoBoost) does the job, gets good gas mileage and is fun to drive.
#18 - 2012- Ford F150 EcoBost (only thing we drive now)

***** Next is a golf cart for riding around town *****
I will probably put a SOLAR panel on the top, rewind the electric motor for a few more RPM’s, set of SLICKS for the rear, gear ratio change.. LifePO4 batteries, just need to convince the wife

I like fun cars (truck) and if they were not fun, I made them fun!

There are a few more that I can add to the list, but they were really only parts cars. I loved taking the cars in to have them dyno'd for HP.

The CHICAGO police used to love me as a teen. DW used to get into my car, when we were dating and first thing look into the glove box to see how many tickets were in there.

How LIFE has changed as I now sit by the creek, having a cold one (Pepsi) and taking a nap... speaking of which, it is time for one....

Later,
Don

1968 Oldsmobile 442 red with white vinyl top. My wife says the car was the reason she went out with me, going on 45 years now.

1965 Mustang Fastback.

Took two tries to finally total it.

1) Remembered at the last minute to stop for gas. Slammed into the pole holding up the traffic light. My dad had me fix the car. We then did ALL the body work: Rear quarter panels and all other rust. Painted it silver!
2) Fell asleep at the wheel 6 months after getting it back on the road. Destroyed it properly that time!

Many cars and trucks since then and no chargeable accidents.

60 Buick Special 4 dr. hardtop. Originally painted black but after rust repairs it became a flaming yellow with bold red racing stripes, chrome moon hubcaps with chrome teardrop mirrors. Conspicuous doesn't fully describe this so I added a 6V ah-ooh-ga horn to the 12V system.
