What was your first car?

Something fun to do, what was your first car?

Mine was a yellow`74 Chevy Nova with a 350 automatic. Loved the gas, but a fun car. Just for good measure my next was a `77 F100 straight six banger with 3 on the tree.

51' Pymouth Cambridge 4 door with the flathead straight 6.

Second was a 50' Plymouth that we swapped a Chevy 216 straight 6 into. The Chevy engine was a huge mistake. The old 216 was essentially an overgrown lawnmower engine because the rods were lubed with a modified splash. We should have kept the original flathead.

I had the same 51 Plymoth, 4 dr, flat head 6 as Lady Fitzgerald. Burned quart of oil per tank of gas. I loved that car until one day the trunk would not open. Problem was I had a bucket of minnows in the trunk at the time. After about a week of warm summer weather the smell drove me to tear the back seat out to get them out of there. :drooling:

1964 Chevy Super Sport - 327 and (ugh) automatic. In my exuberant youth, I disconnected the a/c compressor to gain a couple extra horsepower....did some more hopping up on it and had to run 32.9 cent a gallon Ethyl gasoline.

I think it was a 1984 or 1985. I hated that car.

Mine was an old, rusty, 1956 Olds 88 that wasn't much to look at. The one thing it did was get me away from the farm while in high school!

This be it.........,

Bob

Mine was a silver '73 Pontiac Ventura, with the 250 in-line six, automatic. Was a great car, same body as the Chevy Nova.

The first car I owned was a 1964 Ford Fairlane 4 dr sedan with a 260 V-8 and three on the tree. Dynasty green was the color. It would make short order of a stock Chevy 327 with Powerglide. My dad had 59, 63 and 67 Chevys- all with Powerglide; and what dogs they were with that two-speed slush box. "Slip and slide with Powerglide", they used to say. However, Powerglide was one of the most durable automatic transmissions ever made, and one of the few that would allow you to start the car by catching it in gear; just like a manual.

Now, the first truck I owned was a 1978 Ford F-150 SuperCab with a 351M V-8 and a Borg Warner T-18 four speed.

I bought a brand new 1961 Renault Dauphine in August of 61, paid $1,795.00 for it. Less than one month later I was shipped to Germany when the wall went up. Could have bought the same car over there for $750.00 or a Gourdini for a grand.

My Renault was a piece of junk and only lasted about 3 years after I came home in Dec. 62.

A 1963 Chevy Impala convertible 327 automatic. The car cost me 200.00 and was three different colors and you could put your hand through the top in several places but I loved that car. great engine, hard on gas, had a lot of fun!

Deja vu, That is the same car I had. I replaced the grille with one from a 1950 Pontiac.

I had a 55 Chevy coupe later that I wish I still had. Traded it in on a new VW for $100.
