MODERATOR'S NOTE:

The years in the poll have been updated to permit those who joined JOF in 2019 and 2020 to now cast their vote. Unfortunately, vBulletin only permits a maximum of 10 entries in the poll, so the votes for years 2009-2011 have been all lumped into one choice entitled "2011 and Earlier".

I hope this is a satisfactory solution and I welcome all that joined in 2019 and 2020 to cast their vote.

Thanks in advance for your patience while this problem was resolved!

Another "lurker" here for a few months before deciding to purchase the 195RB and join the forum in March 2015. We got the 195RB in anticipation of a month-long sabbatical that I had in the fall of 2015 and had a great time on that trip. I've learned a tremendous amount here since joining. In fact, most of my camper knowledge came from this forum as the 195RB was our first RV.

Even though I own SOB now I still enjoy the discussions here and try to help out when I can. Ironically, we upgraded to SOB in anticipation of another month-long sabbatical in the fall of this year. I'm hopeful that we will still be able to take the trip we have planned. I'm cautiously optimistic....

We joined when we bought our first camper in May of 2013. I grew up camping but it took a few years to convince DW.

Frank,

What if you group them into 2 year increments? (i.e. 2009-2010, 2011-2012, and so on) That might give you more data and it will be a few more years before you have to merge them into larger buckets?

I ordered my Eagle in December of 2010 for delivery in April of 2011, so I probably joined during that time frame.

I joined just this year. Interesting how the response rate is more old farts than newbs but I suspect that's because more of the newer folks are worried about problems than just hanging out. The survey is far more representative of who frequents the campfire section.

I'm sure some forum admin can pull a report of all users active in the last year and histogram by join date. Surveys are statistically unreliable because it depends on human responses... you have what, 140 replies out of 68k users here that's about normal.

April 2011. It's been a great ride and it's not over yet. This forum has served us well. We have never failed to get an excellent solution to any problem we were having.

In my time, many of the members have "moved on" for whatever reason. We are still active, but our range is less and we move a lot slower.

Joined here in 2022, but have been participating in similar online communities (forums) since early in 2000 when I bought my first Gold Wing motorcycle. Later did a tour of duty as a moderator on the (now defunct) GWRRA motorcycle board. Moderated the g.u.n.s and home defense sub-forum of the (likewise) now defunct gwrra-exiles forum. And years back I spent considerable time on overlanding and camping forums while prepping for an epic off-road motorcycle trip in 2010. I enjoy these communities, and find in them a wealth of helpful knowledge, occasional tidbits of dubious information, and never-ending winter-evening entertainment.

With a shift happing in my life from motorcycling to RV (specifically, travel trailer) camping, I find myself, for lack of a better phrse, back at novice status in terms of "product knowledge." Put another way, how to do a trailside jury-rig of a blown motorcycle shock doesn't translate directly into RV'ing at any level, unless one counts the creativity quotient.

Thanks to all who make this a worthwhile place, and my best for a healthy, peaceful, and Merry Christmas!

Interesting. This indicates that I "voted" that I joined in 2018. But my profile says "2013".

2013 makes more sense as I joined while researching my trailer (or shortly after purchasing, I can't remember if I was "stalking" for a while before joining up).

Retired in 2022, graduated up from life long tent camping to Holiday Inn travel trailer. Oh so ashamed to have admitted that! But it’s been nice.
