I put 'car' because I have, in the past, fallen for a particular one. It makes the negotiation process much harder.
Taking the pressure off oneself can lead to a lower price. If you KNOW you can walk away and let the sales rep know it too. The best price can be gotten.

I voted "RV" for lack of a better option. You should add in "none of the above".
I probably "overpaid" slightly for our RV. I put it in quotes because, that determination depends on a lot of subjective factors. Could I have gotten the RV cheaper somewhere else? Likely yes. But I like my dealer, and I've had very good luck with service at my dealership. And we LOVE our trailer. So while I might have paid a little more than I could have, I got some benefit in return.
I never really felt like I overpaid for any of my vehicles. Again, I probably could have struck a slightly better deal on one or two of them, but in the entirety of the experience, I think I came out okay.
The house was fine. It's worth quite a bit more now than it was when we bought it, so I'm happy with that, and we love our house too. Despite some annoying imperfections, it's our "forever" home.
What you pay is not always in dollars and cents, and what you get is not always quite what you "pay" for. At least that's the way I try to look at it.

Nope. No vote from me. My Scottish blood absolutely banishes me from paying too much. Modest home, modest TV, modest TT. I like quality, but at a bargain basement price.
Almost broke this for a new Cayenne TV, but I ended up with the Chevy instead...

You left boat out of the poll. The word boat stands for Break Out Another Thousand.

My dad always said that our boat was a hole in the water in which he poured his hard earned money into!
For that reason, I have never owned one, nor do I want to!

I have two, but I make my living with them. I have had a boat since I was about 10 yrs old.

The best part about your statement is "YOU"! That's what I tell me dad all the time. He has the boat and he pays for it...I get to reap the rewards when I go home and visit!

Is 'My wife' an acceptable answer?
On a serious note, I way overpaid for my first new car when I was fresh out of basic training and had a wad of cash burning a hole. I think I paid MSRP for it.

I would have to say the dog, my ex paid over 2k for him, he is a great dog but dumb as a box of RV lug nuts for a purebred.

PLENTY of dogs in our nation's shelters and in the care of rescue groups. They can be adopted for next to nothing, and you get the satisfaction of knowing you saved a life instead of paying a ton of money to line someone's pockets.
We bought a "pet store" cat once; never again. We DEFINITELY overpaid for that one!

Agree with this...
We bought a 5 month old rescue dog a few months ago that is actually a pure bread Alaskan Malamute. He's an awesome dog.
Regarding price, the 'adoption place' still wanted 400 dollars for him, but that keeps their lights on and they covered neutering / chipping and puppy shots. Still a great deal.
You do take your chances on some of these, but you do the same with any dog.

We've always had rescues, and each of them was well worth the adoption fee. We've never overpaid for a house since we have a real estate agent that we can trust, and he really does earn his commission. But I have been taken to the cleaners on a few car purchases in the past. I'm a little better at negotiating now.

Bottled water. It costs more than diesel fuel a gallon and we have it on tap at home.

Things are subjective and dogs were mentioned. For ours, one cost more that some cars I've owned. The other was a ~$70 rescue. They're best buds and priceless campers seen here after a run around an I-75 rest stop.
