Why my username...

Just because it made sense many years ago...

It all started the summer of 2002...

I have gotten to the point where I don't enjoy working on vehicles that much any more. Something about crawling around on gravel and out in the snow and rain don't appeal to me now...anyway...

We continued to wheel at PAP until they closed in Feb 2007. The Astro didn't change too much. Herculined the exterior, added a 10 GPM (at idle) engine driven hydraulic pump to power the plow and winch. (The winch was faster at 1500 rpm's than a Warn 8274 for reference!) Also had on board air with air chucks in front and rear.

I also carried enough tools and supplies for almost any repair...even on H1's! This H1 broke through about 5-6" of ice and was winched out by another H1 and an H2. In total there was about 60,000 pounds of winch pull! When it was finally out the front wheels were pointing out quite a ways. He had about a 3 hour drive home so we had to fix it. And since I carried all the tools, hi-lift and air supply...I got to work on it which was pretty cool!

2006 was also the year we bought our first Jayco! We bought a Select 12 HW pop-up. Absolutely loved being off the ground and dry. We had been tenting for 5 or 6 years already and were tired of it.

We continued wheeling and camping...Keep in mind the whole time this van wheeled, it drove 240 miles one way towing either our camper or flat towing the wife's 87 YJ!

The "Sweet Pickle Bus" as it became known as continued to be a DD, tow rig, plow rig, roadside rescue rig and whatever anyone needed into 2007! And YES, it got stuck on occasion! LOL

It was always fun but we got to the point where we needed to cut expenses. We had snowmobiles, camper and 2 offroad rigs. The park closed in early 2007 so the wheeling rigs stayed home and once I bought a newer Astro AWD in 2007, the SPB was basically parked. Then in 2008 the economy tanked and our daughter was heading to college in a year...things had to go...first the sleds went and then the wheeling rigs. We enjoy camping so much that we really don't miss most of the time.
