I could not imagine going camping without my buddy Mattie. She 'chose' me about about 8 years ago to be her new daddy. She is hands down the best dog I could ever ask for. When she sees us loading the camper up, she starts getting excited. When I ask her if she wants to go camping, she is in the truck before I am. When we get there and get set up, she does her part by protecting us from all those killer chipmunks and squirrels. She makes sure I get my exercise too by ensuring I get several walks in each day. And of coarse she makes friends everywhere we go. I'm a very lucky guy.

Don't know what the % is for Rv'ers with dogs but it's got to be high. Never had a problem with ours [had 3 / only 2 now]. They are welcome in the SPs we visit, our rule is no dogs, no US! Don't understand why Gulf cty in Fla panhandle doesn't allow dogs on the beach [leashed or otherwise prohibited]. We take ours outside the park where there are beaches that allow them on leashes. Actually Gulf county now allows them on the beaches on leash but the state parks there don't. The answers I get from the park management is pretty dumb, something about an endangered beach mouse??? Guess they're not endangered on the beaches outside the parks.

Our new White Hawk has a huge main room [at least for what we're use to] with plenty of room for the dogs. Thinking one will lay claim to the area in front of the fireplace. The wife has banned them from the couch, we'll have to see how that goes. Interesting that I have never seen a thread about best places to put a cat litter box? Talk about tight space.

I'm hoping to find our camping dog soon. We have 2 dogs that neither like to be indoors or go for car rides. I miss our Lab who loved to go everywhere with us. We camp with friends who all bring their dogs. I really enjoy having them around. The dogs and the friends!

Wouldn't go anywhere without the dog as she's a part of the family too - if she can't go, we don't go. There are a number of campgrounds that have already been knocked off our potential visit list as they aren't pet friendly.

We had a Black Lab for a camping companion for many, many years. She loved to go camping with us. All I had to do was open the truck door and she was right there ready to go! Went she went to that great "kennel in the sky", we debated on getting another companion, but eventually decided not to. We have more freedom to roam away from the campground and see the sites than we did before. She was a great friend and wonderful company and we do miss her even after the many years she has been gone. We don't regret our decision to not get another dog. We live with and enjoy the memories of our Shadow.

Yea, I've seen them. They lay around on their little beach towels with hardly nothing on. Take up a bunch of space playing volleyball with no concern for other beach-goers. Then they trash up the beach with little beer bottles and cigarette butts. They are disgusting! Can't believe they are "protected"!
Seriously? Beach Mouse? What will they think of next!?

I was out this weekend and was thinking about this post. There were people there with 6 dogs. Yup, that's not a typo, six canine companions. I wondered what that couple needed such a big 5er for, then I found out when they all came parading out!

To each his own, and FWIW, they seemed somewhat well behaved, but dang! That's A LOT of dogs!

Heading out on the road in 5 xxx make that 4 days and the dogs are already getting antzy. One has her bones piled in front of the tv and the other won't leave the back door that has plain view of the W Hawk. 6 dogs sounds like a bunch, but to each their own. We had 3 [big] dogs for several years. That was too many for our 28' TT and the big guy [with alpha personality] stayed home a lot. He's older now and his younger [not really] sister is his best friend, so he has been a camper now for 4 years. Bigger TT was in part so they would have more room to find places out of the way. PS: the fireplace is like a magnet and it doesn't even have to be turned on.

Time to get out my check list and knock off a couple items.
