We've made pizza the last couple of times out camping and they have turned out very well. The campfire adds a bit of smokiness to the flavour and they are always a popular item. The first time making the pizza was a bit of a learning experience in making sure not to scorch the crust.

Ha ha...I figured it was some kind of oven but I just wasn't sharp enough to catch on to that. After all this time I'm still trying to figure out what "DW" stands for! So far I've thought of Driving Wife...Divorced Wife...Da Wife...and on and on with all kinds of stupid ideas. Thank God it's Friday!

Over the 4th of July week I tasted my first pizza cooked over charcoal, it was great. There is a little Italian eatery just around the corner from my cg, and they sell pizza dough. Guess what, it will become a regular menu item from now on!

For my pies at home:
homemade sourdough crust
homemade sauce
homemade sausage
cooked @ 650 over charcoal with applewood for smoke on the Big Green Egg
I really want to build a wood fired pizza oven.
I'm told it's pretty tasty.

Campfire Pizza
I was into making homemade pies for awhile. Lot if fun making and experimenting with different dough, cultures, fermentation times, hydration ratio etc. I cooked quite a few on my ceramic cooker but ended up making a frankenweber pizza cooker. Most of my pies were done in 3 minutes at 700 stone temp and 900 dome temp. I love a neo pie. I never thought about doing it while camping...might have to give that a whirl!
