I read something the other day that said to put the milk in a microwave safe container and heat, then shake, then heat, then shake. after a few cycles you can pour off the foam and, Wala!

If I have power, I'll just use my Aeroccino automatic frother...rather, my wife will. I'm more concerned about what happens when I have no power.

+1 on the aeropress. Use it all the time camping, home, office, etc. Hand crank grinder at camp and use an electric kettle or a jetfoil to heat the water. Great cup of joe at home or at camp.

Our old single cup coffee maker died. I like the single cup idea so we got a B&D CM618C. Even cheaper than our previous one and a 2 year warranty.

Growing up in South Louisiana, I too need my coffee.

I have tent camped for many years with a 12 cup Coleman stainless percolator. As you've found, you don't want it to boil over. In addition to making a mess, it gets grounds in your coffee. It's ok to heat the water on very high flame initially but you need to turn down the heat as the water approaches a boil and get a nice steady perk going. Like anything else worth doing it'll take some practice. If you haven't already, look for the filters that wrap the coffee (these are squares with holes in the corner that tuck over the water stem). Also --- you want a coarser grind. If you're buying a bag at Starbucks, have them grind it for percolator.

A good option is a French press which makes great coffee. We have a bodum brand that is sort of armored to help protect the glass. All you need is hot water. (As an indication of how bad my coffee problem is, I have a small titanium French press left over from my backpacking days.). Again, a coarser grind on the beans will work better and don't rush the plunger.

We've only recently gotten a TT, and we're actually using an electric drip. I miss the percolator coffe though; it's hard for me to call it camping without it. I think on our next trip I'll drag out Ivan (our percolator named after the hurricane).

I too have tried it all over the years. Percolator, 12 cup Mr. Coffee drip maker, French Press, Keurig, instant coffee, you name it.

While I still use the trusty 'ol percolator for a 1x per year Saco canoe trip (in a tent, ugh), my daily coffee volume requirements more or less dictate the Mr. Coffee machine over the rest. That's the only way to keep my intravenous drip full hahaha
