Just use a Melita cone to hold a paper filter. We use size 2 which is big enough for a large Contigo mug. Just heat some water, pour over ground coffee and perfect cup. We each get the flavor and strength we want and it makes clean up easy with no pesky grounds in the sink and easy to do.

We use a perk on the stove, I measure one cup of water per tablespoon, (not a
measuring one but one for a tableset) Trick is not to get the water too hot. If you get it to a rolling boil that is too much.

We both drink coffee but I drink black and she drinks flavored. That's why we love the Cuisinart K cup machine. It has a rinse function that runs a few ounces of hot water through to clean out the previous cup. This way I don't have to taste and residual flavor

Perk on the stove, 9 cups of water, 3/8 cup of Columbian coffee. Bring to a perk, turn flame down low, and let perk for 6 minutes. Let stand for a minute, and enjoy. Aaahh, if it wasn't bed time I'd make some right now!!

I did not read all 41 pages of posts, but this is what we use for our camp trailer:
https://www.coleman.com/camping-coff...000015167.html
It works very good on the trailer stove and heats up the trailer in the cold temps. When it is hot I set up the small BBQ outside and cover one side with foil.
https://www.amazon.com/Char-Standard...+propane+grill
It takes a little longer than the stove, but works well also. As with all hot things be careful. I paid less for almost the same thing at Bi Mart in Oregon.

Peets Coffee pod, Keurig one cup coffee maker and some half n half. Since we stay in one place all summer, this is "Our Beach House on Wheels" coffee station. I also have a drip melitta cone and filters on hand just in case.

I switched from a Lagostina French press to a Lagostina pour through. I'm the only coffee drinker so one batch in either is enough. The press was too much work to clean, especially when boondocking. I use a paper filter in the pour thru so I can just drop it in the garbage and no metal filter to wash.

We use a Keurig when hooked to AC and a Farberware Yosemite Percolator when boondocking (Looking at these posts, however, I may have to experiment with a French Press). One morning when boondocking in the Big Bend area we awoke to find we hadn't checked our propane tanks, and ended up driving over 20 miles one way to find coffee. We can go without food, but coffee, no way!

I only read about 1/2 the replies but in those I did not seen any mention of the grind of the coffee. I try to use drip grind in the automatics but (if I can find them) percolator grind in the campfire 7 cup percolator. Its ground a little more course and the basket keeps more of the grounds in it instead of letting them settle in the coffee. But you have to watch and adjust the heat on a percolator, its not "plug and play", just let to burp slowly and you will not have to clean the stove.

I agree. I use a stove top perk in which you need to watch and adjust. I also grind the beans myself with a coarse grind. Comes out great each time.

Course grind in stove top percolator. However, I picked up a Keurig knockoff last day of camping last year. It’s in the camper at my seasonal site. I haven’t tried it yet. I love the percolator, but it takes too long. I need my coffee fast in the morning!! lol!

French Press. As long as there is fresh water and a heat source you can make quality cups of Joe.

The only and best way to make coffee, I also use the darkest roast beans I can find, and allow the grinds to soak a minimum of 5 mins before I plunge.

Have you tried this coffee? I haven't, but it looks interesting.

For you percolator types: I don't know the ratio of water to coffee. The pot boils over and coffee goes everywhere and the grounds get into the coffee! I think I have an 8 cup pot. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Kim

You have too much heat too fast. A low boil is enough to lift the water up through the basket.

The way I use a percolator is to use high heat until it starts to perk, then cut the heat way down to a slow perk. The perks around two seconds apart.
