For camp we have a hand crank burr grinder which we use with fresh beans. That goes into an insulated 8-cup (2 mug) French press. We have both an electric and stove top kettle, depending on how we are camping. Pour the hot (not boiling) water over the fresh ground beans, wait 5 minutes, press and pour.
Now I want a cup...

When we are not hooked up to power, we use a French Press, that's the way to go!

Coffee - must have
We recently graduated to our hybrid from 35 years of PUP camping, so it's mostly been instant for us. We tried Starbucks' pour over method (boiling water over a filter into our cup) but it took a bit of time, by the time the pouring over was over, the coffee was was lukewarm. We also tried a Melita filter pot, basically a pour over. We decided the Starbucks VIA instant, as well as Trader Joe's instant packets (with sugar and creamer included) will work for us. It's basically about caffeine delivery, and we aren't picky.

You put one tablespoon of coffee per cup into a large enamel coated coffee pot. Hang it over the camp fire until it boils. Take it off the fire and pour one cup of cold water in the pot to settle the grounds. Serve immediately in tin cups along with fatback and beans.

I cheat and bought a Keurig machine just for the 5er, since I take trips without the wife and she can't go without the one we have in our kitchen.

we live by the moka pot. i'm cuban so if there is no coffee, there is no life. we can use the moka inside on the stove or over the camp fire. a good stainless steel one will last a lifetime.

We got a Keurig too, and we love it in the trailer (it's SO fast and SO easy!). But I still carry my old aluminum percolator. Just in case. Not having coffee is a show-stopper for us, so I gotta have backup.
Watching that "Cowboy Coffee" video though, makes me want to try something new. And makes me realize that there's more than one "backup"!

For us whenever we are out glamping, it has to be a percolator. There is just something nostalgic about the sound and smells that fill the entire TT with coffee that brings back childhood memories of my dad waking up early in the morning and putting that old percolator on the stove.

X2, but I use Carolans vs Bailey's. Half the cost, but the exact same idea. Great Stuff!

Um, the video seemed to leave something out. There is a Melita one-cup coffee maker (I use one at the office) shown on the same stump.
The video doesn't show how the coffee gets from the Mugmate into the mugs.
What are they hiding!??!?

We use a Keurig when we have 120v. A percolator on the stove when we dry camp.

I noticed the Melita as well, not sure why both are shown but only one used.
The mugmate filter goes into the mug you will drink from. Simply pour the water in and remove the mugmate. You are ready to drink.

Ewww.... French press style. I'll use the Milita with the paper filter, thank you.
