We use an electric drip when we have 120 volt power, French press when dry camping.

We use a Capresso w/ Thermo Carafe; this is the 3rd unit we've had in 20 years. Makes a great cup of coffee and keeps it hot for hours. I spent $950 on a Honda genset just so we could have our coffee when boondocking... I know, I know... ridiculous, but we gotta have our Starbuck$. hehehe

It is the same concept as the Melita. You put the coffee in the filter and pour the water through. It just sits inside the mug instead of on top. No need to buy and use paper filters. One less piece of paper to throw away.

I'm a percolator convert. I have a stainless farberware percolator pot. We use it every morning for the last several years and it is perfect most days. The key is never fill the water too close to the pour hole or when it boils the pot will spit or overflow. It took a few days to get the mix right. Then it took a week to patina the inside of the pot which i think helps the flavor.

I fill the pot up to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the hole. Then i use exactly 1/3 cup of ground green Mountain breakfast blend coffee. The result is heaven in a cup. We usually use a butane burner outside since i wake up early and dont want to add heat to the cabin. Last month i purchased a portable single burner induction unit and it is amazing. Heats up metal pots and 90% of the heat goes into the pot and as a result doesnt heat up the cabin. And it starts perking in minutes.
Now i want a cup of coffee.

Half-Calf, Black. No sugar.

If I'm going to be in camp all morning, I'll brew a pot with a Coleman coffee maker that sits atop of a gas stove. If I just want a cup, I do it with the Kourig, even if it means firing up the generator for a few minutes.

How do you make your coffee...

This reminds me of a funny joke from a long time ago:

The flight attendant come over to the businessman and asks him
"How do you like your coffee?"

He says "I like my coffee like I like my women."

She looks at him and says "I'm sorry sir, we don't have stupid coffee."

When I boondock I still use my Keurig. Just fire up the generator and the Keurig works fine. Besides, I'm watching the morning news on tv at the same time (I don't know why however. It is the same political crap day after day).

X2 on the generator. Some things just have to remain the same from the s&b.

I'll put up a bit of an argument here. Soaking the grounds in the mug with a metal filter produces a different brew than water passing through the grounds and then reacting with the paper filter.

The paper reacts (neutralizes) some of the acids in the coffee. Producing a sweeter brew.

The easiest way for us to have coffee during trips is to make it at home, add whatever cream/sugar we need, let it cool, store in jars and keep them in the TT fridge til needed. Heat it up in the microwave, and you're set.

I agree. I use a Melitta Pour Over with a paper filter. I can't imagine an easier to make, easier to clean, more green way, to get a great cup of coffee.

But coffee, like beer, elicits some strong opinions from some people on what's good and what's not.

Sure, I grew up on Maxwell House *boiling* all day.
It tasted like battery acid.
It cleaned metal like battery acid
And we were perversely proud of just how bad it was.

I got exposed to good coffee in the mid 80's when I visited a Peets in Berkeley. My eyes were opened.

How do I make coffee

I depend on the would you like another cup syndrome. I just amble around the campground until I see someone with coffee ready. I stop and say good morning and tilt my cup up like I am drinking it down to the bottom. Works most of the time-- if it don't -- then I amble on a little more.

We started with the Aeropress, but recently moved to a Bialetti moka pot which has worked out really well.

Keurig and Community Dark Roast coffee. Which reminds me, it's time for another cup. Thanks for the reminder that my cup is empty.

Reminding me of all the bottom-of-the-pot cups I drank, thinking it was "good"!

I worked one Christmas season at a Nancy's Coffee Café. That opened my eyes to real enjoyable coffee!

And chocolate covered espresso beans!

Old school tin percolator on the Atwood stove top when camping. At home I use a keurig.

My old Scout troop made it that way but we tossed in a hand full of black pepper. I miss that pot.
