Low pressure gas travel distance/pressure

Can anyone tell me how far I can run a low pressure hose and still get a good gas flow?

I’d like to run a line, maybe as much as fifteen - twenty feet, off the trailer’s built-in quick connect to a low pressure stove on the picnic table.

How far can I run a low pressure line and get a good gas flow?

Thanks!

should not be a problem. Hose lengths are already 25 feet to my back grill.

I have heard of people using 12-15 foot hoses without issues. From what I have read, the RV regulator (black coupler) has a max flow rate for 50K btu/hr. The hose at 40 ft at that inlet pressure (10.5" W.C.) is rated for 52K btu/hr.

Worse case scenario, your high flame just wont be quite as high.

FYI, the color of the plastic threaded tank fitting will tell you the maximum flow rating.

Red - ~50K btU/hr
Green ~ 200K btu/hr
black ~ 70 btu/hr

Volume is related to the hose size so don't go smaller diameter.

The quick connect on our trailer is near the back bumper, and the tanks (naturally) are on the tongue -- a distance of around 25 feet. I then hook up our Weber grill which is modded to connect to the quick connect with a 10 foot hose and it works fine, even with an overall distance of 35 feet from the tank. I also sometimes connect our propane firepit with its own 15 foot hose to the 10 foot hose (total overall length of 25 feet) to the quick connect instead of the Weber, and it works just fine, even though it's around 50 feet from the tanks.

I bought a 1gal propane tank to use with our Weber Q, seems easier to deal with than the longer hose, etc. JMO

My 32BHDS is 35ft long - I run 2 20ft long hoses off the back bumper for my campchef fire pit without issues.

It seems like it would wast propane because every time you disconnect, all the fuel inside a hose would be wasted.

I run a 10ft extension off mine to a 3 burner CC grill and it works fine. Sure its not like a 20# tank right below.

Dang! I didn’t think it would push that far!

Thanks, folks, for all your input!

I usually turn off the propane at the trailer and burn it until it dies. It only takes a few seconds. I’m burning propane with a fire pit. It by itself will eat some propane but we sometimes get stuck places that don’t allow wood burning so it has come in handy quite a few times. Besides I don’t have to find/buy/carry wood around either. Instead of our clothes smelling like wood smoke, they smell a little like propane. It goes away pretty quick unlike the smell of wood smoke.

My trailer came with the two quick connections standard. One at the back bumper for a grill and another for the two burner cook top in the outdoor kitchen. I only use one thing at a time.

I'm looking for a 15 foot quick connect hose. Do you have a link to one?
I've found 25 foot and 12.

Thanks!
