Outdoor stove

I am looking to add this outdoor stove (Jay series I believe) to our Travel trailer. We just upgraded to a Jayco Eagle 324BTSBH (a monster- yes). It has an outdoor kitchen but no cooking surface. I am missing my 2 burner outdoor cooktop. Does anyone have this and can get me a part number? We contacted our dealer and they said we were the 2nd people to call in the same day about this. They are looking into it but I thought I would try here as well. I also posted this in the pop-up forum. Many thanks!

Happy camping! Can't wait to get outta here!

I know what you mean! I had a 2-burner outdoor stove on my Keystone Outback, but my Jayco outdoor kitchen doesn't have a stove, either. There's a microwave and electric dorm-size fridge, a cupboard and drawers, but no stove. (I'm not sure why I need 2 microwaves, but no outdoor stove.????) So for now, I've resurrected the Coleman 2-burner camp stove from my tenting days. I set up my Weber Q grill and the Coleman stove by the kitchen and hook both up to a 20# propane bottle with hoses. There's a quick-disconnect propane connector behind the kitchen, but nothing to plug into it. Not sure why???

What I wish was an option is a removable stove top. That's the one single thing I miss about having a pop-up camper. Because we got so used to moving the stove outside we do all our cooking outside now.

Exactly, Scoutr2 and DocBrown!!! I will let you know what my dealer says. I DO NOT want to cook inside. I have always cooked outside and now that there is a covered "kitchen" I feel I should not have to. I do a lot of campfire cooking and DO. We had a rail and 2 burner stovetop we had attached to our last camper with the quick connect LP. Wish we had kept that old stovetop for this camper. We have a camp chef 2 burner but it cannot be hooked up to the LP quick connect per manufacturer. Many can be just not the type we bought. Figures!
Scoutr- I have the same outdoor kitchen and wonder the same thing...

This is what I use both inside and outside. I removed my stove/oven combo and put a cutting board in its place. Burners were too close together anyway.
I have 2of these butane stoves and find them super easy to use .

Thanks Seann, but this stove can't be hooked into the quick-disconnect, according to the Q&A on the website. It has its own regulator. The quick-disconnect on my trailer is already regulated down.

So what do tenters and backpackers do in your neck of the woods?

The dealer got back to us. The stove pictured is a new standard interior item on 2016 Jay SPort Series pop-ups. They are waiting a few months to make sure there are no problems with them before offering them out "to the public". She said we can order an older version of this (not as nice in my opinion) or wait it out. Not sure what we're going to do yet but wanted to share the info!

Bears are a much bigger concern than Cougars/Mt Lions for us. But there is no question they are both around and most people take precautions.

Around here tent campers/backpackers ...

1) must use bear box or lock everything away hidden in a car in developed a CG.
2) dispersed camping or backpacking, they must use portable bear canisters at a minimum and the Rangers prefer all food, cooking vessels and toiletries be suspended in a tree.

With a little effort bear/mt lion risk can be mitigated, but it's a real risk. This is one of the primary reasons we opted away from an outside kitchen on our TT. Not all of our camping is in bear county, but most of the summer months are in the Sierras near Sequoia and Yosemite were the Bears are well tuned into campers. You should see the locking mechanisms on the dumpsters in developed CG, they are serious.

I have seen first hand a bear rip open a uhaul trailer a group of tent campers brought last year to a CG in the High Sierra. They were storing trash, BBQ, stoves and coolers in their. Pretty sure the trash was what the Bears were after. Pretty humbling.

We just purchased a used 2004 Jay Feather 25E which has a non removable 3 burner stove inside Jayco did offer a outdoor stove as an option for that year but the previous owners never obtained one. We do more cooking outside than indoors and being the camper had the hook-up and mounting bracket for an outdoor stove I was lucky and found a nice used 3 burner stove that will fit our needs. Was able to find it on e-bay and the seller was local to me overall the cost was $75.00 now all I need to do is make up a quick-disconnect adaptor and we will be good to go.

We usually do most of our cooking on the COLEMAN ROAD TRIP outside grill... Ours is in a nice tote and rides in the back of my truck all the time... Easy setup everywhere we go...

Give me some ideas of things you use your outdoor stove for. We just bought a unit the has one. I was thinking about removing it to make room for other storage. We only use it to brown meet. We cook over the campfire or in crock pots.

jerm2118 - 2 Jayco dealers quoted me $540-ish for the Jayco Carry-Out Stove. There are other options out there, including this one:New Amazing RV Gas Drop in Cooktop Portable Stovetop w 60" Connector LP Hose | eBay

I bought the eBay one and plan on making a shelf for it and the rest of the hardware to make it work. Should be able to assemble a complete stove for less than $200.
