Pellet Grill
Is anyone on here cooking on a pellet grill? I just tried out our new Traeger Lil Tex Elite and was amazed how good the steaks taste & how fast it cooks. I haven't tried smoking anything yet but I have a turkey in the freezer I want to smoke.

So how does that work? Is that those little compressed wood "hamburgers" that go into the bottom?

The little hardwood pellets are automatically augered into a fire pot. The fans actually blow pretty hard making a lot of heat. Check out traegergrills.com

Just checked the grill temp, 123 degrees F. I added water to my pan, man does that brisket have a good looking bark! The wind started gusting about 10 mph at daybreak and the sun is really shining, outside temp is 34 degrees F. The weather man predicts 60 this afternoon. I think I will check it with a meat thermometer about 11 am just to see how it's going. So excited!

Here's a site I found after buying my Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker... it has a lot of great BBQ tips, recipes, and how-to's to get some great results. I've done chickens, turkey, ribs, brisket, pork butt, and more.

Don't get hung up on the mention of Weber. I am sure it would work just fine for your new grill too. :hihi:
Dang, now see what you've done?!?! You've got me thinking about pulling out the smoker!

I've got 2 buddies that have 6 Webers between them, 1 is huge. They post pics of great looking food on Facebook every weekend. My small smoker took a lot of babysitting is why I bought the Traeger, it ran all night while I slept. It came out amazing! I cut up some tators, made salads, brewed sweet tea & DW baked a lemon blueberry cake. I put a link for that Weber site on my desktop, Thanks!

I used to cook a 8-9 lb Turkey breast on the Weber Kettle grill years ago. Just get a good load of coals on each side. Rub the breast with oil and salt/pepper.
2 six packs later it was great!
