Many, many years ago, before we bought our first camper, we borrowed a friends camper. Our daughter made something with a pie iron we'd found in the camper. When she was finished, it was pretty messy, so she decided to just stick it back into the fire to burn the goo off. After a while, we pulled the pie iron out of the fire. ALL THERE WAS LEFT WAS TWO STICKS!!! Evidently, the pie iron was made of cast aluminum. Moral of the story: don't buy aluminum pie irons!!!
Many years later, I was working in a RV dealer in the parts department. I had a lady ask me one day if we had any round pie irons. Apparently her daughter wanted to make cherry pies and said they turn out better with a round pie iron than with a square one. I told her that my old high school math teacher once told me that you can't use round ones. She got a confused look on her face and asked "why is that"? I then told her that my math teacher had told me "Pie aren't round. Pie are square."
