Special Diets?

Does anyone have any tips, or warnings, or horror stories, about camp cooking for special diets?

In my own case, I'm not allowed anything with iodine it for the next few weeks, so, since almost everything that comes from the store is generously loaded with the stuff, I'm pretty much back to making everything from scratch ( l did this once before, and learned to make my own bread, but I now learn that a lot of flour is loaded with iodine compounds, to "improve it")

If anyone's in the same boat, I'm happy to share what I learned, but I thought this might be a useful thread to start up (If there's one already, I apologise...)

Thanks
IanP

Oh, I could write a book on this subject. I was there in 2012 personally when I developed a sensitivity to Iodine and MSG. I spent months broke out in hives before the allergist identified the root cause. I spent over a year eating 100% clean from scratch with iodine and MSG free ingredients. Since then, I have become a lot better. I can eat pretty much anything I want without a reaction. However, it has to be in moderation. I know it is time to back off when I start to develop random hives. Combine this with my oldest daughter's severe food allergies (Peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, etc.) and we have some very odd camping menus.
